I just sent mine off and I am still crying. Linda and I kissed a boat load away. I sure wish some of you dead heads would start working so it doesn't hurt so much...lol. 33,000 I saw go bye-bye in a flash. Makes me sick...I told Linda she still needs to keep working the street corner.... I might have to start doing it too....I made a quarter last week working the street corner....I found it on the ground. I told Linda if we could deduct her son we would get most of it back....lol.

Oh, are you talking about the "Legalized Theft" taxes in this free country of ours?

A few years back, I sold some farm land that had been in my family for generations. I won't go into specifics, but the amount of taxes the govt. STOLE from me was criminal. They didn't earn it, but they surely knew how to TAKE it. #$&^*)Q)&*#)&*

Nope, generally will be the middle of February before we gett all the necessary documents from government and investors to file.

Wife and I generally get a good deal back. We donate to charities and charge it all off, as I said before, better to pay them than the government, because I know where my money went.

All filed and sent off ... waiting on my return!

BTW I use Turbo Tax ... have used it for as long as I can remember.

I have them deduct the absolute maximum from me all year long ... that way I'm guranteed that I over pay!

I sat down with the tax papers, did the numbers, and we are looking at a return of almost 2 grand. Going to use the free E-file through the IRS...but want to talk to the neighbor gal first...she is an accountant and tax specialist...and have her look over my calculations to make sure they are right. If everything is good, will do the e-file and have the money direct deposted....could have the money is as little as 10 days. I will use a bit of that to have a broken tooth cut out, Deb wants a recliner...should have enough left over to buy a LCD TV for the bedroom so Deb can watch Nancy Grace in there so I don't have to listen to that worthless drivel.

Nope, not yet. I just received my 1099-MISC in the mail today...

How I managed to survive the past year on just barely over $7k gross income is a real mystery to me! Okay, I also got $2400 in food assistance, but still...

Theoretically, they're doing something halfway decent with the money. Aside from that, what they get isn't going to give them a whole lot to do much with anyhow so what's the difference.

I'm such a lousy manager of money anyhow and if I got it, it would surely have been spent on other things and unfortunately not accumulated.

This way, is kind of like an unseen savings account. Yeah granted I don't get interest on my savings, but at the end of the year, that chunk of change sure comes in handy.

Same here. I went to an account a few years ago when we bought our house. As I fed him the information he plugged it into a tax program. I thought, hell, I can do that. Not to mention I get a heck of a lot more back doing it myself.

Cheezy, fill out a form, you might get some "GST" back in 4 (or is it 3, can't remember) installments at the very least. It can amount to a tiny bit.

I will probably do mine as soon as I get all the slips, I used to be a real slacker and never filed until they sent the third request to file a return...lol I always get a refund mostly due to travel expenses, so I was never worried about penelties. One of the more stupid tax regulations here in Canada is that a travel allowance is considered "Taxable Income" so they grab 25% of my travel allowance every pay and end up giving it back at the end of the year (or when I file). That has always made a refund a slam dunk because the allowance is never close to the actual travel costs so I get all of that tax back, add to that I am now considered "Disabled" because of the hearing loss, so I get an extra credit for that.

I am not so sure about the Disability Tax Credit, I mean I am fully employed and never stopped working - I missed a week when I had the surgery but I did not quit work or loose my job. I know yes I am deaf, and I do have extra expenses for batteries and service on the Implant, but I am earning a living the same as I was before I went deaf, so should I get a disibility credit??? Well my Audiologist told me - You qualify so you better claim it because you are nuts if you let the government keep the money! I feel slightly guilty taking the claim, but she is cute (and very smart) so I listen to her not to mention she is right, better I have the cash than some of the politians we have now. Besides I know of a certian online Flight Sim forum that will appreciate another donation when I do get that refund.

I do feel better this year anyway, I was audited last year (which scared the CRAP outta me) and after the whole process I got an additional $200.00 back, so maybe I should ask for another audit this year... [yeah right smacks self on head several times....]

They didn't reduce the 1040TT tables but did request that employers withhold $68 less per month from everyone's check as a way to get money into the economy more quickly.

Since about $68 per check was withheld less per month, that works out to $816 per year. If you and your spouse were forced automatically by your employer to not withhold the additional $68/month and didn't correct your W4 to withhold extra federal taxes then you'll owe about $832 back to the government by April because the Obama stimulus credit was only $800 for a married couple. You will have withheld $832 too little between the two of you if you file as married and jointly.
