haven't flown FSX in one month - here is why

It just doesn't get any better.
 
With Ace Combat Assault Horizon due later this week, It's definately a good reason to give FSX a rest as far as I am concerned.
 
No thanks. And it doesn't make any sense at all to compare a civilian flight simulator and a military combat flight simulator. It's apples and oranges. They have different purposes.

Maybe you only focus on one flight sim at a time, so you make a choice. I may be wrong but I think most people consistently play multiple flight sims. I spend time on FSX AND military combat flight sims AND racing sims. I don't ignore one sim while focusing on a different one. I get bored if I play the same sim three days in a row, so I switch every 1-2 days.

I had Falcon 4.0 back in the day, and still have Falcon 4: AF (uninstalled). I think the enhanced LOMAC is better, as are DCS: A10 and DCS: Black Shark.

I think if you were to get into the Virtual Cockpit, you'd take back what you said.

The Falcon BMS VC is one of the best I have ever seen, just behind DCS A-10C.

Don't even get me started on the HUD...

Still, it doesn't make sense to compare a civilian flight sim with a military flight sim. Different purposes.

FSX is not a civilian sim. It's just a sim in the most generic form of it.
The military part of it is just about to appear :)

And yes, Falcon4 BMS rocks as far as I've seen. It's been a while since I flew Falcon4 at all, but at that time it was funny to see it slowly evolve toward FS9 and FSX (virtual cockpit instead of 2D panel, wider variety of flyable planes, additionnal theatres, and most of all, CLICKABLE virtual cockpits!).

I don't know if TacPack and FSX@War will be enough to reach the level of Falcon4 in terms of theater of war, but I'm sure it will get very close :)
 
Half the time I fly in Falcon BMS, I'm not even killing anything.

I usually just set up a flight plan full of tight turns, sudden changes in altitude/speed to see if I can keep up with my notes.

The sound, flight model, and cockpit all blow me away. I can feel the G's! ;)

Yeah, the Falcon4 derivates, especially BMS are up to now a class of it´s own.
Besides the flight model, which really gives a feeling of "floating" in the air, the campaign engine is superb!
 
That sucks that you can't use Allied Force as your foundation. I have it. :(

Had F4 years ago, couldn't tell ya where the discs are. That was why I had bought AF when it was released.

Since we're talking old stuff, I just found my F3 manual in storage the other day and took it to the dump. Looking at F4 stuff on eBay makes me wonder if I just threw away a gold mine. LOL
 
That looks fantastic Diego. I still own the original F4 Binder edition and may look at reinstalling the mods again. Has anyone made them a one step installer yet?

I also agree that FSX is a sim, not just a civilian sim and offers much potential with its enhanced sceneries, weather mechanics and aircraft add ons. With the pending release of Tacpack/FSX@war, it will only get better.

I had the same version as you, big binder.

Installation is a breeze:

1) Register Here: http://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/

2) Download the BMS Mod

3) Insert your Falcon 4.0 Disk

4) Run the BMS Mod (you don't even have to install the original Falcon 4.0).

It's that simple, and that satisfying!
