Having a blast returning to CFS2

Thanks all for your help in my previous post with the text issues!

Moving on, I'm getting recurring weapons errors (see pic)...as CFS2 is limited in number of aircraft files (85 is it?), is the same true for weapons? There is 1414 .dp's in the OBJECTS_DP file (could probably do away with at least 1/2 of the weapon .dp's. though prefer not to mess with the infrastructure)...please advise :wavey:

Install this.

Thanks for the suggestions kwb737 and Allen; the problem is, all the DB weapon .dp's, the .bgl and mdlnames are in the right places...that is my dilemma - it seems CFS 2 is not recognizing these particular weapons. kwb737, thanks for the download, but I actually have this installed...

Easy fix

It can happen when you install a lot of objects.

If everything is installed correctly then delete the "filelist.dat" file in the "SCENEDB\weapons\scenery" folder. that should fix it. Don't worry CFS2 will make a new one.

If its missing on a plane then delete the .CDP file from that AC. Again CFS2 will make a new one.

you can do the first one for any scenery folder that has the filelist.dat in it. Give it a try and let us know.

Phrog_phixer,

always delete "filelist.dat" index files after you installed new objects, new weapons and new sceneries. Periodically clean them all out.

CFS2 will reindex them as soon as you start it again, you will see one of the same screens that appeared the first time you installed the sim. It's a pleasure seeing how CFS2 purrs away with new index files!

You can use a *.bat batch file, run in a DOS windows, to do a full cleanup sweep of index files with the following command line:

del C:\Programs\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2\*.dat /s

The above C:\Programs\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator path reflects the standard install in XP Pro. You will have to enter the correct path your CFS2 was installed to have the command running correctly.

Cheers!
