Having Connection problem with MSFS 2020

I was flying around NYC yesterday and the trees weren't filling areas, especially Central Park looked almost barren, could this be the reason why? I started messing with my LOD settings to no avail.
 
Here recently, if I get the "Checking for updates" screen, it'll stick there until the cows come home. So when I see it, I just Alt+F4 and start over. I've only had it to stick twice in a row on one occasion - the rest of the times it has relaunched normally.
 
I've got a new one. Start up Steam, fire up the sim, first two splash screens, not even the update screen and now I have the 40th anniversary screen and that damn music (which I've disabled in the settings)

Micro$oft urgently needs to get their ******* together. We bloody well paid for this game.

XBox is reporting a major outage in it's sign in department. Has been occuring for 1 1/2 hours so far. To many people trying to start MSFS to get the new updates??? What is going to happen when 2024 comes online???
 
XBox signin is suffering major outage. Can't start MSFS. NOT happy. What will happen when 2024 comes online?

Exactly! Most of it will be in the cloud, so if this crap continues, we're all in deep doo doo. I do NOT want to go back to the legacy sims!

I get through the regular credits screen, then a new video shows most of the default aircraft in the sim, witht the old (FSX?) "press any button to start" line, then the XBox error screen.
 
Yep, just spent about an hour taking out skins I just downloaded, changing drivers and to no avail, just the circle of death and then thought to check here.
 
Trying to look at things in a positive way. It made me do a full backup (which was sorely needed), so no time wasted.

It's funny because I had a rather interesting series of issues that MSFS was causing my PC to hard crash and reboot, and after doing a verification and some checks on my system, it loads up only to throw a login at me!
I thought I was losing my mind, hopefully this gets resolved soon, I want to see what 64gb of RAM looks like
 
Next thing we'll hear is that it's "the Russians"... Well, if that is true, then beef up your effing security or provide some form of redundance!! All of us paid quite a bit. Instead of forking it out for the shareholders, think about the people who actually paid to have service, THE CUSTOMER!!

Still down... I'll be holding off on buying 2024.

They know that there is no viable alternative to this thing, so they're not afraid of people moving over to another sim. This is disgusting.
