Hawker Sea Hawk for FS2004 released

Thanks for that important update - that may well be the problem. I no longer have IE6, only Firefox and IE7, and can report that all downloads seem to work fine in both. For those that are IE6, my only suggestion is either upgrade or down Firefox. I will investigate further in the meantime.

Thanks also to those positive feedback comment s - they mean a lot, this being my first time out!

First time out? Well, in that cse whatever will your future work be like? This is absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

I second all the posotive comments so far, I love the model, its great! I only hope anything I do comes up to this standard.

Steve, can't believe how nice she looks in FSX, thought I would give it a go, apart from a couple of guage issues which don't bother me in the least, she looks just great and flies like a dream.

This was a nice surprise as I hadn't got round to reinstalling FS9 yet....thanks again for all the hard work

Thanks a lot, chaps, that means a lot to hear it from you. I'm really pleased the old girl is going down well with the community, and that it even looks alright in FSX. I remember in beta that some FSX users said they had no probs, but I had made some tweaks since then and was not sure how she'd fare. That's good news indeed.

Please post some screens in FSX sometime, I'd like to see how she looks.

There will be a static wings folded model for scenery builders to use, and also the P.1040 prototype to follow sometime soon.

Cheers all,

Steve

Hey Steve - awesome job on these beauties:ernae: While not on the Dark Side, I do dwell in the never-never land of FS2002. :jump: Just wanted to thank y'all profusely for your incredible efforts. They fly extremely well in FS2002. I didn't even have to convert the MDLs' or search out a similar airfile to make 'em perform - just plug and chug.

Thanks again from one of the old timers.

Here ya go Steve, just a few quick pics, none of them are edited just fired em off....... will get some more later
pay no attention to the small reflections of the nav lights, I'm still working on playing with fsx settings and a few
addons I have already...........stunning pal !!

Hey Steve - awesome job on these beauties

Thanks again from one of the old timers.

You are most welcome. It's nice to know someone still dabbles in '02 land! What I always liked about FS2004 is that it seemed there was little or no transitional problems between the two. Glad it worked out for you in that sense as well.

Seaking, nice pics mate, looks good indeed. The main thing it seems to miss is the texture alphas, but that might be my imagination rather than fact. Still, pretty cool it runs right.

Steve,
The text of the downloads menu on your Sea Hawk page is masked off for some reason (see attachment). I moved my cursor around the page a bit and noticed it turned into a button finger at several points, clicked at the right places and was able to d/l several models with no problem. :) I'm using Internet Explorer 6.

Well, I have tested this nice bird in FSX SP2, and the external model shows perfectly. The flight model is nice too. The only problem is the virtual cockpit: there are some parts which are causing transparency issues on the angle of the canopy.

And it's not a problem of canopy getting opaque ! It's the border of the dashboard which is too much transparent, and cause the canopy + clouds to dissapear behind it. I had to uninstall the plane :/

Sorry to hear that, Daube, but then again, the model was never designed or tested in FSX, so I can make no assurances for how it will perform for you in that programme. But if it does for some, its a bonus. Hopefully you still have FS2002/04 installed.

ATB,

Steve

p.s. it is now a known problem for IE.6 users trying to download, please use IE.7 or Firefox.

Thanks Steve, just grabbed them all and can't wait to go home and try them! Like Quicksand, this is on FS aircraft that takes me back to Airfix days!

As for d/l issues I found (using IE) that the right hand half of the home page only had about a line and a bit of text load, no visible download links. But passing my pointer down the blank revealed where the links were and all worked fine. Don't know if that is relevant to other issues, may only have been at this end (work setup so I can't tell what they may have by way of filters or shonky setups!)

Sorry to hear you had problems John, but glad you got round them.

In the meantime, I've been painting, and have knocked out a few more examples. I also have the static model complete for scenery-builders, and will be releasing that this weekend. The shabby looking partly-bare metal scheme you see below is for WM994, the first of the static model repaints I've done.

Got a few more screens for you chaps, including a new Dutch repaint showing the earlier markings (available for download now). In fact, all, apart from XE456 in this series are online now.

and a very weather-beaten static model I spent a large part of Saturday on...I do like 'em dirty, even if this one is a bit forlorn out in open display.

Definitely, Seaking. I found a shot of 798 in her glory days last night online, all glossy black and not a paint chip on her, so it was sad to see her end up so folorn out in the open, with fading, streaking and even moss/mould growing on her. Still, it did make for a more interesting repaint.

I'm going to re-do that generic FAA scheme for the static and then might call it a day on those paints. In fact, the overall line of repaints is also drying up - it may be time to return to the Canberra soon.

ATB,
Steve

Thanks for the extra textures Steve. I guess it not hard to find out which is my favourite one :costumes:

Cheers,
Huub
