Hawker Tempest - by Hanvey & Barry

Hello,

I'm working my way through installing Rami's awesome-looking RCAF campaign, and am contemplating substituting in my favourite WTO aircraft - the Hawker Tempest. I know the campaign ends at Overlord, but for it's likely as good a campaign as any to do this.

Wondering if these lovely FS9 birds have ever been converted to CFS2?

FS2004 RAF Hawker Tempest VI, NX142 GN-G from 249 Squadron of the Royal Air Force in 1948. This unit first equipped with the Tempest MkVI in 1946. It was based in Iraq, although along with other Middle East squadrons was highly mobile and moved around from place to place. The Tempests were replaced in 1950. This package includes a new model. The Tempest Mk VI evolved as a development of the Mk V, with a more powerful 2340 hp Sabre V engine. This is a FSDS V2 model for FS2004. It features 2D and virtual cockpit, opening cockpit canopy, moving pilot's head and many other animations as well as lights and automatic special effects. By David Hanvey and Paul Barry. FS2004 RAF Hawker Tempest II. MW774 HF-X from 54 Squadron of the Royal Air Force in late 1945. This package includes a new model.The Tempest Mk II was probably the cleanest radial engined fighter of the Second World War. The Centaurus engine and Tempest airframe proved an excellent match and the Centaurus was generally regarded as superior to the Sabre, particularly in terms of reliability. The Tempest II, despite its slightly improved performance and better reliability, never saw combat. Tempest IIs produced during the war were intended for combat against the Japanese, but the Pacific War ended before they could be deployed. This is a FSDS V2 model for FS2004. Especially that II (I know, never flew in combat), but she's gorgeous in FS9 ....

I can't remember who did them, but there is an entire series of Tempest models for CFS2. Mk I, IIa, IIb, III, V, V series 2 and VI. I have them in my CFS2 collection, but from a period in time when I deleted every file that I felt was unneeded....like read me files and check lists....so I can't say for sure who did them or where I downloaded them from....but I am pretty sure they are on Flightsim.com and that David Hanvey did them. I will head over to Flightsim and dig them up.

I'm back! Yes they are by David Hanvey. Go to flightsim.com. Get the file library search page. In the drop down box where you can select which section of the library to search through, select CFS2 aircraft (way down the list), then in the search box type Tempest. You will get 2 pages of CFS2 Tempests. Most are by David Hanvey, but P.H.F Burnage's Tempest is there as well....a very very good Gmax model with incredible frame rates...he also did the best freeware Typhoon of ALL TIME!

Great! Don't know how I missed those. I think I subconsciously searched only in FS9 Warbirds.

They look good. Here's what I dream of some day ... Morton doing a repaint of this ....

Are they sweet, or what?

Anyway, thanks for the reply - I at least have a V model for some realistic fun ... and a II for guilty pleasure ...
