Hawker Typhoon

SOH-CM-2025
I down loaded the Alpha Hawker Typhoon to the cfs2 root file as per the readme but on the early version it comes up with two error messages ,"can't find raf_250_bomb in libary "" and cant find model raf-500_ bomb in library".I've had this happen before but don't remember how to fix it. Can anyone help?

found weapons pak

I found a RAF weapons pack on Avsim ,installed but still no good ' and yes the weapons are in the objects DP file in the Typhoon folder so I put them in the objects DP folder and it just over wrote so the files are already there.

in that weapons folder you should find two folders called "scenery" and "texture"

these contain the file that CFS2 cannot find

if you get two explorer windows open one showing you the contents of the main CFS2 directory
and the other showing you the contents of your typhoon folder
drag and drop
the scenedb folder and objects_dp folder from the typhoon aircraft folder to the main CFS2 directory, allow overwrites, that is the easiest way to move the files.

you can use any method you like; cut n paste , copy n paste or drag n drop.
As long as the files end up in the correct places

I did as you said

I did what you said ,and it didn't work,I tried putting the contents of the Objects folder into the Objects DP folder and the contents of the Scene into the subfolder of SceneDB and Texture into the texture folder ,still didn't work ,there are so many subfolders of subfolders I'am getting confused with the whole thing.
I'll just do with out the 250lb and 500lb bombs .thanksyou so much for trying ,don't know why the folder structure has to be so complicated, but thanks for trying.

Im sorry I could not help you,
It is because you believe that the file structure is complicated that you are having trouble,
but trust me,
most of us started out having exactly the same problems as you are expirencing,
You will not learn by giving up
neither will you learn by getting frustrated
take a break
then have another look see if you can figure it out yourself

The weapons_01_FREE.bgl file in the Alphasim free weapons pack will negate the individual weapons that come with each of the Alphasim airplanes. It is a headache of major proportions if you try and use the Free Weapons pack in conjunction with the weapons or the DPs from the individual planes packs which looks to be the case here. The two different weapons.bgl files seem to compete with each other and thus negate each other. Your DP file may also need some modification when using the Free pack and expecting the weapons to show up due to a tilde (~) being used in the title of some of them.

The solution for me has been to delete the weapons_01_FREE.bgl file from the Scendb > Weapons > Scenery folder and then use the weapons_XXX.bgl file that came with each plane's weapons pack as well as the original DP (un-modified) file.

Example: Scendb > Weapons > Scenery > weapons_01_FREE.bgl << Delete

This may be the easiest solution for you at this point.

OR

When using the weapons_01_FREE.bgl delete the individual weapons_xxx.bgl file from the individual weapons packs that came with each of the old Alphasim airplanes and then use the Alphasim free weapons pack weapons and update the DP file to reflect the titles of the free weapons if necessary.

Example: Scenedb > Weapons > Scenery > Weapons_typhoon.bgl << Delete

------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the readme file from the Alphasim Free weapons pack:

Listed below are the weapons included in the attached BGL, simply apply the name into the
planes DP and the weapon will be present, note that some weapons are named ~xxxx, you must include the ~ prefix. Example the first weapon simply requires the DP text of ~500LB_Bomb, another example : ~250LB_Bomb etc do not include ( " .sca " ).

Weapons prefixed with ~ have there center point placed where the weapon shackle
or mounting point would be, you only need to specifiy that same point in the DP and
all weapons marked ~ will align correctly with that pylon.

Weapons not marked with ~ have their center point at the weapons center and will need
individual mounting points in the plane DP for each location and weapon.

It is advised you do not mix ~ weapons with non ~ weapons. Weapons with the ~ prefix
allow greater flexability of weapons with in the current limits of DP mounts in CFS2

Final point, these weapons are freeware however if posted or used elsewhere please ensure
proper credit is given to all parties.

Apart from all that..enjoy

I tried

I never got the free weapons pak so thats not the problem,I tried a different typhoon but it wouldn't take off ,just sat there when I gave it full power, and yes I had released the brakes, next I found an updated Alpha model and it came up as not showing a visual pic of the planes,so I went back to the first Alpha models and put them back ,I can live with out the 250 and 500 lbs bombs. Thanks too all who tried to help but it not your fault just my dumbness.

Alpha Weapons probs solved.....

Jagdfleiger, yer a saint! Just happened to read this thread and found the answer to all my Alpha Modern Weapons probs!

Spent hours today trying anything and everything but of course, nothing worked. I'd gotten a hint from Simonu, but didn't know what to look for.

I know this is not really a part of this thread but thanks very much for your timely input. I'll post this on my thread.

Cheers!:jump:

I'am back

I'am back till I have to leave for Church, but I have two questions. One: When I tried to install the updated AlphaSim Typhoon which was a much easier install ,an error message came up saying "no visual image could be found "and the screen was black. Second: I found another Typhoon, don't remember which one cause I tried so many, that installed ok but wouldn't move when I advanced the throttle, even to full power,I checked the brakes were off but still it just sat there engine running at full power, whats going on with these two planes? Thanks

Please understand this is not meant to be offensive in any way

first off not remembering stuff is a problem we all suffer,

but I'm afraid it is no excuse,

Your computer is a great tool for keeping notes,

Apart from automatically remembering nearly everything you do with it and reporting back to microsoft among other interested parties,

You can use it like a typewriter to record personal notes to your self

You would be best advised to pay very close attention to what you download and install into your computer,
all kinds of very nasty software can be hidden very easily inside games addons.

Reputable sites like SOH Simviation FlightSim.com and others scan files uploaded to their servers

but that is still no absolute guarentee. As antivirus only works against known viruses

but ther are some site that exist to distribute spyware and worse.

So please keep a record of what you download and where from. Just copy the links before you follow them.
That way if you have a problem with a plane you can put the link into your post saying "I have a problem with this plane"
Then any of us "helpers" can just follow the link get the plane and look at it for you
This takes out the guess work and ensures the advise you get is correct

if you don't have MS Explrorer set to unhide extensions for all file types you aren't going to have clue what I'm talking about so do this first

- Open MS Explorer; once open under Tools at the top select Folder Options; once within, select the View tab, & from within it, un-select or un-check Hide extensions for known file types. After that press OK or Apply & then OK.

so second question first and theres not really enough info here so this is a guess
you have a plane built for FS, the weight of ordinance is modelled into the aircraft.cfg and or the air file.
Both these files can contribute to the way a plane flys or not as the case may be.
Now when you load a plane into CFS2 the program looks for a dp file for it, the dp must have the same name as the air file, if CFS2 doesn't find a dp file for the plane it uses a default one that is a clone of one of the stock fighters.

Now your plane is carrying two loads of ordinance it is too heavy to get it rolling

I don't know whats going on with the first plane I'll leave that to some else

Typhoons

Hurricane3,

Simon might be on to something with his explanation above. I hadn't thought of that before, but as he points out, both releases of the Alphasim Typhoon (Approximately circa 2000 and 2006) had FS versions as well as CFS 2 versions. The CFS 2 versions will have weapons included in each plane's folder as well as a dp file for the plane.

A second option might be to start all over again and try Burnage's Typhoon. It is a GMAX, multi-res plane that I like to use. It comes with its own load outs so it should negate the problems you are having with the Alphasim models. As I recall, it gets better frame rates than the Alphasim model (latter 2006 release) and its flight model works well for the AI aircraft in missions too. It would be a great addition to your RAF hanger.

You can get it at Simviation.com on page 35 of the CFS 2 aircraft section.

Here is a link to the plane:

http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft35.htm

Here it is in action over France circa June 1944.

here we go again

Ok I tried both versions of Burnages ( the older and newer from Simviation ,which Jagdflieger recommened ) and these are the ones that won't move. Its a shame because they are well done with lots of ordinance ,I really likes that version but can't get it too move.
Also tried the AS Typhoon but it is poorly done graphics wise and has no ordinance. So I'll stick with the first versions of Alphas Typhoons ,funny the rockets and drop tanks work but not the bombs.
Thanks to all who tried to help,oh I also got a very nice Tempest and everything works on it. Thanks again, just wish I knew were to put the missing bombs, but lifes not perfect.

Won't Move ???

I spent the afternoon watching a thunderstorm and Da Bears (Not in that Order) while figgling with this plane, and got MY Burnage Tiffie [tif1BT.zip] to move.... But it took some effort to get it right.

Try copying my AIR, DP, and MDL files into your Burnage install,
- I think you'll like it.

PS - I discovered that this plane will NOT achieve top speed in flight w/o MANUALLY adjusting the prop pitch - but just check out the "Open Canopy" function [Shift-C] animation !
