I understand that with AICarriers one has to have Java installed, is this so? I don't normally likie Java very much as it can play havoc with the system.

Yep, same here Baz, had issues in the past.
It does require it and so far no problems in vista 64 bit except for the annoying updates, LOL.

Here is another picture. This is just landed on CVE-73. The static Wildcat's don't look as nice of course, but they provide some ambiance.

this is a nice little package. Getting the wings to fold required a little editing to the Standard.XML file in my AppData folder.

Hopefully the community can do some repaints.
