Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Heatblur Tomcat Update

I saw this on the Indiafoxtecho Discord channel this past weekend:

F-14 TOMCAT VERSION 1.1.8
+++++++++++++++++++
As we have not received a clear schedule on when some of the current backward compatibility issues will be solved for MSFS2024, we have decided to bite the bullet and apply a number of workarounds and fixes on our end to both the Tomcat and the Tornado to improve compatibility with MSFS2024.

We are releasing the Tomcat update today, and the Tornado will be likely released in a week or so.

Note that these are still MSFS2020 packages so there are still some (minor) quirks when used in MSFS2024. The biggest things are:
- some EFB functions cannot be used, including weight management - you can change the loadout with the Jester menu
- you need to use the "TAKE CONTROL OF CHARACTER" command to enter the aircraft if you spawn in walkaround mode
- aircraft variants (F-14A and F-14B) are not clearly identified in the menu, and list of the liveries is messed up
- lights and effects may render slightly differently from MSFS2020

However most of the cockpit interactions should now be solved and you should be able to use the aircraft in MSFS2024.
Update has been sent to all of our distributors, and will be available with the usual lead times (a week or two for Microsoft, a couple of days in the worst case for all other distributors).

All that said, I have been checking the Heatblur website, and they have not updated the download there yet. I hear that Simmarket does have the new version though. If their Tomcat is available through other vendors, I am not aware of the new version status for them. NC

I read about that too Pete. I bought directly from Heatblur, nothing yet.

I don't mind waiting. Definitely NOT a problem for me, but I do find it strange that the developer's website isn't the first to make it available.
