Hehehe...P3 really did arrive this morning!

I guess the Lafayette Escadrille was a fib?

Not our fault Woodrow Wilson was a wuss... ;)

OvS

At least he did not wait for the U.S. to get attacked like Pearl before we jumped in.:tgun2:

Hmmm while we're talking about catalysts to bring nations to war ....

I saw an interesting docu on the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 the other night. UK maybe BBC production. One of those recreation type doco's. I thought it was very well done.

It's alleged only one torpedo was fired from a German sub which sank the Lusitania within 18-20 minutes ! It was carrying munitions (known to the Germans) and a mixture of American and British citizens many of whom died including women, children and babies. It was only 8 miles off the southern Irish coast. It's alleged the British Admiralty did not protect the Lusitania under Churchhill's directions in order to fast-track the US into WW1 should any unfortunate situation occur. And the inquiry into the disaster was covered up "after all how can anyone prove only one torpedo was fired or that it was carrying munitions. It's 3 miles under water. The Germans are completely to blame for firing 4 or 5 torpedos and there's a war on." They also tried to blame the captain for ignoring non-existant (allegedly) up to date warnings of the sub's location. It didn't quite work as he got off the charges. The Admiralty did not provide an escort despite knowing the sub was in the area. I guess it's one of those "for the greater good" things .... if what is alleged is true of course ?

In any event the US didn't enter WW1 until April 1917 ... 2 years later .... and ground troops didn't have a great effect until 1918 when large numbers began arriving at the front. Which was why Germany had one last final major push in March 1918 before the US troops could gather in large numbers.

I think you're right OvS. Wilson was a wuss. A pretty typical politician.

I'm all about everything pro-American, but I can't help but feel bad for the Germans in WWI. Just seems like a war that no-one was the real "bad-guy" to me, ya know? Especially since the whole thing was the result of an extremely unnecessary escalation of side-taking by a bunch of different countries due to the assasination. They were considered the losers (arguably by being backstabbed by their own politicians and people) and only because they were on an orderly withdrawal at the time of the armistice. As far as I know, no German soil was occupied. Then they deal with the post-war rioting, extreme inflation, poverty, and mini-revolutions. So in history, they go down as the "enemy", kind of an unfair portrayal I say. So it's nice to see films like All Quiet on the Western Front, and The Blue Max really showing "the enemy" in a better, human light. That's just my take on it, a whole 4 years of just unnecessary and saddening conflict from both sides.

Daveebee has 72 hours and 5 minutes left of his bet that he receives his PACKAGE by close of play on Thursday night.

I emailed them back last night, explaining my unusual situation. I got home from work today and there's an email saying that they're satisfied with the results of their investigation and the disc is in the mail! I should be playing it in about 3 weeks :faint:

Great news desertguy :)

FB- Some people say they got a mail saying that I didn't for mine :)

I expect there will be a delay to Europe because of that inauguration thingy. I can't see what all the fuss is about. He's only another politician.

I ordered mine yesterday, and got an email this morning saying it has been shipped.
Cheers,
shredward

Is the DVD being distributed only out of an English location, or is there a US distribution center as well?

I ordered a few days ago and have been watching carefully so far. However, packages from overseas take quite a bit longer than domestic US packages, so I'll know to look later for it if it's coming from England.

Afaik it is shipped only from the US. So, if you received a shipping confirmation you should be safe and sound in the next days.

Any Europeans out there who got it today? Cause I havent.... yet :frown:

I dunno about Europe but I'm in England and no sign so far. However I'm still on my learning curve with OFF2 so I'm happy to wait. Just so long as it comes after Thursday and Daveebee loses his bet, I'm happy.....
