Heinkels! lives again...

To all,

I am now ready to have people begin beta testing the Heinkels! campaign re-release. Additionally, the JHS_Norway pack has to be revised to accommodate the re-dos of Banak and Lake Lesjaskog. Achim was generous enough to re-do those bases to compensate for Rhumbaflappy's new watermasks.

To finish up Heinkels! I need a wee bit of help...

To all,

I would like to build a GSL harbor at Tobruk for use in the Heinkels! campaign, as well as later on for Desert Air Force. However, the flatten that Achim27619 used for the Tobruk East airfield extends out halfway into the harbor, making building any ports in that area very difficult. Could someone please build me a narrow flatten in that area (even just adding a "flatten" line to the scenery.cfg) so that I can use the harbor and build a port there?

The other mission is just waiting for a rebuilt Thessaloniki airfield from Achim.

Thanks in advance,

To all,

Tomorrow I will upload a comprehensive final update to the Heinkels! campaign for you to enjoy. This campaign package is actually a five-in-one, so you can fly the missions as separate campaigns or the entire fifty-one missions as a comprehensive campaign that cycles you from Norway to the Mediterranean and back to Norway.

All of these missions have brand-new dynamic sections that have random chance and other elements. Infrastructure has also been updated in some cases, but the missions in large measure will not play out as they did before, I tried to add new twists and turns. Also included are the GSL ports at Narvik, (which you may have had installed already with the Bardufoss Hurricanes mini-campaign) Benghazi, and Tobruk.

Achim was nice enough to move the airfield at Tobruk so the flatten did not interfere with the harbor area, which allowed me to make a GSL port there for this campaign, and I will later use it with Desert Air Force.

Here are a couple of pics of Tobruk to wet your whistle...

To all,

Thanks to the generosity of Achim, both of these issues have been solved.

This is why I ask for beta testers...

To all,

I noticed for some of the missions in the Mediterranean that I forgot to do what I did in Norway for the ship missions, add a mission abort trigger and event if your health drops below 50%. I adjusted missions 23, 25, 27, 28, 35, 37, and 38 accordingly, and replaced the original version on my site and here at SOH.

I think I forgot to do this for the FAA as well, at least for the Mediterranean. This is why I need beta testers!

First af all thanks again for another of your great campaigns. Heinkel´s "reloaded" has not yet been loaded in my PC.

Personally I prefer to nurse my hurted aircraft/pilot home than to end the mission in a "Game Over" fashion. I have experienced this in many of your missions, or getting an early end of mission when you expend all your ammo without getting a kill. If I "die" in the process I fly again the mission until I succed in, at least, returning alive. If I fail the rest of the objectives, well, the majority of WWII pilots weren´t aces. Who said it would be easy? If I don´t have time to fly again inmediately I exit CFS2 so the mission doesn´t get saved and I can start again next time.
I think, for what I have read, that returning alive and giving back the plane to the mecanics would have been a goal per se. Many pilots perished during WWII trying to land their aircraft in bad weather/wounded/mecanic failure condition. Surviving should have been an important goal, but for that they had to RTB.

I´m not asking for anything. I´m simply giving my point of view.

Cheers, Discus

Discus,

Woah, cowboy! The fifty percent trigger is an abort trigger that reads like this...

type text
string "Alarm! Your bomber has suffered major damage, you can't continue the raid!"
}

action id 228
{
type delay
5
}

action id 229
{
type text
string "Break off the attack immediately! Hit the deck and fight your way back home."
}

action id 230
{
type alt_route
unit 6000
}

action id 231
{
type delay
10
}

action id 232
{
type enable_warp
}

You are given an alternate waypoint to make your way back to base, you live to fight another day! :icon_lol:
