Help -can't update DCS

I'm trying to update DCS from 1.2.8.xx to the latest 1.2.9.xx but the updater can't download the new files.
My DCS install is 228 GB and it wants space to download 200GB but the disk with DCS on it has only 40 GB free.
My downloads folder disk has 800GB free but I can't get the updater to use it - any way to do this?

Is the best solution to uninstall the current version and re-install the new to the disk with 800GB free?
I've got a fast internet (200+ Mbps).

I could also copy the current install to the new disk and then update it, but maybe DCS won't like being moved?
And the update might take as long as a fresh install...

I plan to buy the FA-18C so need to get the update done soon...

Also I notice the F-5E is reduced to $15 as I have the original F-5.
Is the upgrade price normally $30, so this $15 price is only good until the 25th?

Try to temporarily uninstall some modules, preferably maps from the module manager within the game. Once you do the update you can install them again if there is still the space.
 
You command line install forward or backward to ANY version of DCS. You'll have to look it up though. If the version you are trying to update from is older than 2.0 it may not allow you to make that transition from PRE-PBR to post PBR implementation.
