Help CFS3 constantly crashes

Hi Baywing,

I just checked Tigerdirect they have several there. Just query Athlon 6400+ once you're in.

I should have been more specific, I am looking for just the CPU, not an entire machine. Thanks anyway.

This suggestion on deleting ALL the files in the application data folder only applies when doing a complete reinstall of CFS3. There may be time to time when it might be necessary to delete the uisel.xml in the data application folder when one is experiencing continueous CTDs.

You ctd during sim play may be caused by low virtual memory or other programs running in the background competing for resources. To increase virtual memory click to go to control panel>system>advanced system settings>advanced>performance>settings>advanced and you will see the category change the virtual memory.

Hope that helps

So just uninstall the game, reinstall it, and/or increase the virtual memory settings? My gaming PC runs with no applications in the background, just processes, but I'm all for increasing the virtual memory if that will allow me to pound the bad guys into submission w/out these game crashes. Many thanks for the advice and patience.

There is no need to reinstall the game if other than occassional CTDs. Random CTDs can be caused by a number of things, heat, cache memory being overloaded and not refreshing, other processes hogging memory, missing spawns, etc.

In your case I would just try increasing the virtual memory, and make sure to reboot occassionally after lots of play. Also it is best to run defrag on a routine basis.

The only reason to re-install is when you have a major foul-up and at a loss on what is causing it after troubleshooting to the point where you can not figure out what is going on.......... or you know that only a re-install will fix the problem.

I think it's fixed

Many thanks to all. I didn't do any deleting or reinstall, but rather upped my virtual memory from ~3300 to ~4600 initial, with a max of 5000. I then ran some missions and intentionally changed "seats" many times rapidly (used to be a surefire way to crash the game). Game ran fine. I think you guys nailed it for me. This is THE flight sim forum as far as I'm concerned now.
