Help: Columbs in the Clouds

When I fly in some of the less populated parts of the world; Africa, Northern Canada, or Eastern Europe, I see these solid from afar and transparent from up close columbs rising from the ground. However, if I am someplace more populous, such as the US or West-Middle Europe, they are no where to be found. Has anyone seen them before or know what could be a cause? Thanks in advance.

I had this happen to me about a year ago. I don't know what caused it and I played around with multiple settings/files trying to fix it until I finally gave up and in despair I ran the FSX repair tool and the problem went away. :isadizzy:

I was VERY concerned about messing things up even worse than they were already but the repair tool appeared to do it's job and all my add-on aircraft were still there when it completed it's tasks. Thankfully I have not had a recurrence of the problem.

To access the repair tool you have to go to the FSX installer (as if you were going to reinstall) and select 'Repair' at the prompt.

Well one of the cloud textures you've installed is fubar!

clouds are made out of single planers not cubes :)

I'm guessing its a bit of autogen, special as how you say it only turns up in some areas and not others

OOOOO new smilies :rapture:

Boy O Boy, those block clouds were the clouds of the early sim back in the commodore 64 days....ouch!

Tako_Kichi: Thanks for the suggestiong, but no luck in resolving the problem...

X_eidos2: Nope, thermals are set to not be displayed.

Any other ideas come to mind?

Ooooh, a top secret weather machine no one in the West knows about!:wavey: But then again you are flying a F-106 in unauthorized airspace!
Grab a helo and see if you can land on one of those "blocks"!:costumes:

I think the Borg are busy assimilating again. :Banane40:
