Help Henry

Helldiver

Charter Member 09
I hope that everyone will contribute to "Help Henry". I lived through my own stroke and I can tell you that with a lot of therapy and the prayers and good wishes of my many friends, I managed to make it through.
When it comes late in the day, I have a limp and my memory isn't for s**t. I know my speech ain't perfect and I can't hold anything in my right hand.
The point being, it's best that he concentrates on taking his therapy and not have to worry about money problems. The more you give the better old Henry will back to his old self, laffin' and scratchin". He's a real great guy and my very favorite Administrator.
Donate at the top of the site. It's easy.

Done. Glad to hear you kicked its butt Helldiver and that your doing better. Its a long hard road as I have seen many family members suffer from this. Get well Henry!!!!!

Already done Bob.
Thanks for starting the thread I'm having major problems with my pc.

Best luck to him but God helps those who help themselves!

I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly, Peter. The man's got the use of half his body at best and needs a wheelchair to get around. How much "helping himself" exactly is he going to be able to pull off in that condition? We all need help from time to time, and it sounds like it's Henry's turn to get a hand from the community. God knows he's helped us enough around here.

I mean no offence but I know several people on here who have had the same or have had horrific injuries and have not asked nor recieved any assistance, I fail to see why Henry just because he is admin should be any different, thats all I have to say, I mean a Stroke is horrific but does not remove your computer or your ability to recieve benefits from the government. All I'm saying is why should we pay out because he is going through hard times arn't we all at some stage of life and guaranteed no one will do it for us!

I do sincerely wish him a speedy recovery and all the very best though!

Henry is in the US things are a bit different there re dole and NHS.

Pratt.

No one is making anyone give anything. If you don't want to, then don't. But "stating the obvious" isn't winning you any points or friends here. Quite the opposite in fact. Henry has been a friend to all here since 1999ish. You help your friends when they're down. That's what people do.

Ohh I agree but, some how certain friends seem to fall between the cracks don't they! Not mentioning any names but it seems SOH look after there own and others seem to not matter, as said I wish Henry a speedy recovery but I'm not standing for this hypercritical high ground! Good night!

Oh Pete,
Henry was one of the founder members here 11 or 12 years ago. An expat Brit he made his way in the US and was an all round good guy. When I joined the SOH staff back in 01 he was a great friend and mentor and helped me out on many occasions and well over a year ago he lost his job of many years. He is the same age as me and finding work again was almost impossible yet still he maintained good spirits when ever we spoke on the forums.
I don't know what prompted your uncharitable outburst but I have to say that although I thought I knew you, I clearly didn't know you at all.
Sometimes things that go through your head are best left there!

Guys think what you like!! Members of my family and good friends like Henry have strokes it's aweful, and I absolutely appreciate the high emotions felt for him, all I was trying to say was, making the guy feel like a criple or whatever the pc term is these days, is no good, instead encorage him to get back up and fighting and not feel like a charity case, granted maybe I did not say it in the right way but I hope you understand! Help Henry help himself! Roger you do know me mate!

Not sure who your beef is with, exactly, Pete. Henry is not asking for help, and nobody is imposing upon you one way or the other. Not everyone who is in need gets the help they deserve. That's been true since the beginning of time. Letting that unfortunate fact cause you to think ill of those who choose to help when possible is unbecoming, at least. Probably best you let this one go.

Henry has helped all of us...

...I think it's quite appropriate for anyone wants to contribute to have the opportunity to do so.

Best wishes, Henry, and keep the faith!

Henry

Really sad to here about Henry's stroke - he's always a good guy to have around - my ten cents is in - get well soon H

I chipped in, not because I have to, but because I wanted to. Henry is a dear friend who helped me a lot. If you have a problem with people helping other people, I really see no reason why you'd want to be a member of this community. Do us all and yourself a favor then?

Enough said.

Cees
