Help needed; got a problem

Motormouse

SOH-CM-2025
None of my 'flyables' display their own textures anymore (see screenie) includes VC rendering
too; this is default Cessna at Seattle.

I've not changed any settings; or graphics drivers for ages; so all should still be ok since last time I turned it (fs9) off.

Can anyone tell me a fix for this?

thanks

Gremlins I say have got ya! Check and see if somehow all of the aircraft.cfg's have been disappeared from the Aircraft FOLDER - I have had it happen once. Still not sure how. Good luck. Take care.

Ed

Don't know if this helps but the only times I've had this happen to me was before I got a better graphics card. Before that the game would sometimes struggle to fill in textures like sceneries and aircraft and especially animated ones like tire smoke. Do you have other games that don't texture in either?

Ok tried the .cfg rebuild; no joy
Graphics on other apps seem ok (I can run FSX ok); and here's another thing; calling up the User interface in-flight and
in-flight map all result in a black screen and a 'program is not responding' message

got me stumped for sure.

Probably a virus corrupted something, the smallest flaw in the right place will trash the game. You could try replacing specific folders (textures, modules...) from the install discs, or just bite the bullet and do a re-install. And if you used Task Manager to see that the program is not responding, that can be normal during the games thinking phases like starting up or changing aircraft.

If it is something Windows related, could be worth seeing if you can use Windows Restore to take it back to a point before the problems starting happening.

I have been getting wierd crashes also on my rig with FS9. Sometimes I try to chase it figuring its my new plane I am making (a bad gauge or something?) and it wont crash if I am watching it for that, lol.. But textures are getting slow to fill, like terrain and all. I hope its not my graphics card. I also get a crash sometimes bringing up the GPS screen, like you are having MM.

stranger; and strangerer...

Well I don't think its a graphics card problem; I can run FSx; LOMAC and even old Fly!II
without problem; its definitely fs9 only related..so unless I can get it tweeked
back to normal I guess I'm heading for the 're-install' FS which is a pain!!

While reading this thread, I decided out of curiosity to look at my FS9.cfg file. My new computer has Windows 7 for its OS. It's filing system is different from what I was used to in XP. Can someone tell me where the FS9.cfg file is with W7? I tried a search, but it didn't reveal anything. I have it set to show hidden folders, but I still can't seem to find it.

try AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/fs9

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate under 64bit OS and my cfg is stuffed here:

C:\Users\nnn....\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9\FS9.cfg

Stiil not fixed

Well; I got me a new graphics card and still I have the disappearing textures;
this only happens in Fs9 (Fs2004) all other games are OK.

Just a odd idea, do the texture folders have the texture bmps within? Once for now reason most if not all my texture folders became empty and all my FS would display for aircraft were grey aircraft. The sound, panel and model folders were all normal. Another idea: Do the 2d or VC views display with color? Take care.

Ed

OK, the 2d panels all display ok; nothing missing there; all textures are present and correct; I can see them all in the preview /aircraft selection window; its' just when I actually try and 'fly' a selected aeroplane all the 3d textures (model and VC ) have gone awol

Really got me stumped.
