Help with Mission Builder scenery

Hello All,

As I am building scenery in the mission builder I have been attempting to use flyable aircraft from the Aircraft folder and use as static objects in the scenery....they show up in MB but when I save the layout and start CFS2 to take a look...I get the cannot find (Whatever plane in library)

...do I have to add the info into the .mdl names, or add the .dp to the .dp folder ?? etc. etc. // or am I wasting my time and they will only show up in missions.

Any help is much appreciated,

Dave

Dave,

Can't say I know this one...I'm using many static aircraft on bases in BoF, especially on the Allied side. If they show up in free flight, they should show up in missions without a problem.

If there was a problem with the aircraft, you'd get an error message in MB as well, so to get it in one but not the other is extremely strange. :dizzy:

Thanks Rami,
But my problem is not in missions, I want to know if they can be used as scenery objects...Some will not convert for me.

I guess I could always just make them API macros but that takes away the fun of shooting them up...

Be safe my friend,

Dave

HI No Dice,

I'm not clear on what you are trying to do.
Do you want to place AC in the GLS layer?

Yes, Trying to use them as static objects in GSL, Guess I will just have to find some that will convert for me.

Might help to add them to the mdlnames.txt if they are to be used as statics in scenery, using the same format found in the file for the stock PTO models.

I'm pretty sure GSL objects can only be bgl file format, & perhaps need to be located within the SCENEDB folder structure...

for example, there is a SCENEDB/AIRCRAFT folder, but it's empty, suggesting it could be populated.

Hi Dave,

As long as the aircraft has the same name in the layout file as in the AIRCRAFT folder it should show up in GSL scenery. Dog1 uses various aircraft in his GSL renditions of some SW Pacific airfields.

If you have multiple skins for a particular aircraft in the aircraft.cfg file, you can have the skin you want show up in GSL by using its [fltsim.*] number, e.g. B24D_LIBERATOR.2. You can also use this method in missions with AI aircraft but not the player aircraft. This requires hand editing the layout or mis files.
