Better check that eddie, I had Track Pass and saw all from Denny's car. i don't know if Denny checked up when the wreck happened and the 48 and 24 just took advantage of the situation, but the 48 passed the 11 on the inside and the 24 went around him on the outside , so says NASCAR before the caution, denigrating Denny to 9th, the 48 to 7th, and the 24 to 8th.
I shook the chicken and screwed up Harvick's cosmetics, but it didn't stop him! I tried and thought I had helped Denny gain a few valuable points only to be effed out of my desires when I saw those two pass!
I guess I should be glad Denny got a top ten at Talledega and got that bee-atch over with without a wreck.
Three more tracks to go, two of which, Texas and Homestead have the 48 written as winner all over them. Only at Phoenix perhaps can Denny make any inroads, otherwise, I have to say, it's five for the 48. Harvick is only dreaming, the chikin "will" catch up with him.
But to be on the safe side:

Thank God that is over!!!!
It played out much like I hoped - Jimmie in the top 10 - that's all I hoped for - 7th is fine! This year Jimmie got 35th in the 500 and 31st in the July Daytona race and 31st in the spring Talledega race - it was not looking good for today. Those finishes were not because the 48 was a bad car but because he kept getting caught up in somebody else's mess and the reason why - well that is the subject for much of the rest of this post.
I have said it's everyone against Jimmie and today's race shows why this is so as did some of the past restrictor races. If you saw the restart with 4 to go Jimmie was 2nd and so in a lead car position. His car was fast but absolutely nobody would push him so he dropped like a stone until he was in the pack and basically somebody had to push him to get anywhere. Once your in the pack anything can happen and often does. But the issue here is the lack of anybody willing to push a 4-time in a row champion to the front and help him win number 5. People are willing to push Harvick and Bowyer and even Hamlin but not the 48 - Why? Is it because they are tired of seeing Jimmie and Hendrick win the Championship? Well it don't matter cause he still got a top 10 way bettering his last 3 restrictor cup race finishes of an average of 32nd.
Did you notice Harvick deliberately staying out on a caution and saying that he was doing all he could to stop the 48 from leading a lap and getting the bonus points? Well it didn't work but you see how it is for Jimmie.
That said yes Jimmie and Jeff worked well together at one point and went right to the front but where were they at the end? Still only Jeff pushed Jimmie and he is a part owner in the car - where were Martin and Jr? In fact at one point Martin tried to get in front of the Jimmie/Jeff freight train and almost wrecked em. Jimmie has 1 friend and even he isn't a friend at the very end. That makes Talledega and restrictor plate tracks in general very hard for Jimmie and Chad to do well at.
The other comment I would make is that Kyle and Denny went to the front - in my opinion - way way faster than Jeff and Jimmie so I stand by my assertion that the Toyotas have more power than the Chevys - making the Chevy's underdogs. NASCAR does the dynamo tests but rarely ever let the results out.
Now with 3 races to go it is back in the hands of the driver and CC and none of those other cars can very easily or honestly influence the results without deliberately crashing the 48. It is up to Chad and Jimmie just like it is up to the other drivers and crew chiefs. This is why I always worry so much about Talledega. Jimmie's competitors get help Jimmie doesn't and you can so easy be caught up in a wreck not of your making.
As for the last 3 races. Texas is a Toyota engine power track - you know Kyle won the last race there. Phoenix is probably a Jimmie Johnson track as he won the last race there. Homestead? Who knows - Jimmie has never won a race there. He might need to this year. This years championship is pretty much an even race between Denny and Jimmie with Harvick the wildcard.
I continue to not like the other drivers - in this case Denny specifically having figured out that races (except the 500, Indy and maybe Charlotte) don't matter championships do. In Denny's post race interview he said he would like to have been trying for the win but he couldn't as he had to race for points. Soon they will start doing like Chad and Jimmie always have basically using the first 26 races as tests to prepare for the last 10. This will make it hard for Jimmie and Chad to get to the number 9 which I believe - even though neither of them has ever said a word about it - is their target. I'll see if any of you know enough about NASCAR to know why the number 9 is so key. I believe it is their target. After that who knows.
