Heres an Odd ball issue

I'm running W7 and I noticed that CFS2 hangs when ever I try to look back when flying Dbolt's Corsair or Tango's A-20G. They both have either a 'mirror' rear view, or a turret view. I dunno what could be causing the lock up. Any ideas, besides the idea that I should go back to XP for CFS2? It worked fine on XP but not on W7?

I don't like how this new OS plays with my hobby.

I've had a few issues with W7 and CFS 2 also, mostly with the Mission Builder. My problems generally revolve around full view and window views as well as issues with the wide screen on the lap top that I'm using now. Often times the sim will play, but not show on the main screen, just on the little preview window accessed from the tool bar. I've got some work arounds, but it can be challenging at times.

As far the rear view problem you are having, I have not experienced that, but I'll try out DBolt's Corsair tonight and see if I can duplicate the problem. I imagine that deleting the rear view window entries in the panel.cfg file might fix the problem.

Jagd: I've never seen anything like the problems you describe in Win7 with Mission Builder or the game itself. In fact, the campaign I'm building now is on this laptop with Win7 and I've had no problems at all. Of course only have a Pacific install on it and it's installed in the default location...

I never tried DBolt's F4U or any cfs2 plane with a mirror, so I can't help you Wulf190.

I've tried messing with panel cfg file. The 'mirror' view does cause CFS2 to hang. But I dunno why. The Again, I have to run CFS2 at a lower the native resolution due to my Video card, a GTX460. I had issues when running a ATI 5850. It think its a mixture of video drivers and Windows 7.

I've tried removing the mirror options just so that I wouldn't have to deal with it, but unfortunately when I do that I wined up with a black square in the middle of the 2D panel. I understand that it goes with the times, and CFS2 is 10 years old, but I am seriously contemplating buying a second 500GB HD and just putting XP on it so that I can run this gem of a sim.

Its either that or junk ever 2D panel. Windows 7 64bit just does not seem to like 2D panels.

I tried the DBolt Corsair with W7 tonight and yes, you're right. The sim freezes when using the hat switch for the rear view.

I deleted the references to the rear view and the mirror and all is in order now.

Rear Mirror

I had the same problem Wolf, and not just the Corsair or the A-20G. Every aircraft with the rear mirror froze the sim. Deleting the rear mirror solved the problem.

Rgr. Thanks for the heads up! I'll get my crew chief working on my ships right now. Its gonna take him awhile though I bet. He's got Spitfires, more Bent-birds, Havoc's, and who knows what else to fix.

Dang shame too. Those mirrors were nice....
