Hi Guys, I'm back

Hi Everyone,

Well after long overdueness :salute:, I finally got me a decent computer and have FSX installed. I am running an Alienware Area 51 with and i7 930 at 3.33 gig, 6 mb RAM, 3.8 Tb hard disc space, and a GTX 480 with liquid cooling all on windows 7. :jump: So I says to myself "well if this don't run FSX, nothing will". Well it sure runs. As of today I am runing full right sliders locked at 40 fps and still working that upwards as she seems to have a lot more in her. I have spent less than hour in FSX and I am not sure what I think yet. My first impression is that it feels a cartoonish and I am not sure why at all, it may be just because it's all so new. (whats up with all that head latency) I only have a few add-ons right now and I plan on being selective (yea,...right lol ).

So I've been out of this loop for a while and am new to this FSX thing so whats hot for add-ins. I plan on getting FSUIPC in right away as I made the mistake with FS9 of waiting too long on that one. I need a weather system generator as I had Active sky in FS9 but understand there are more choices now. Is FSGenesis still the best mesh in town? Does FSX even need it?

Well thats enough for now, gonna take it slow and easy. :wavey:

Regards,
LouP

Welcome back Lou.

Well, you can sure dump a lot of money with FSX add ons. The basic four to me is, FSGenesis mesh and landcast, UTX-(USA, Canada, Alaska and Europe are available) GEX textures, and REX for weather and clouds.

After that MyTraffic will populate your skies and PNW scenery will make you pee in your pants with delight. If you still have money, let us know. LOL

Thanks guys. So whats this shimmering effect on the water? I know that in FS9 you had to change some display settings to get rid of that but I do not see the same adjustments here. Also, what does DX10 preview add over DX9?

Thanks Again,
Lou
