• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

This never gets old. I loved the ones at Vegas and other places, but it seems JFK is an endless gold mine of ATC arguments and hijinks. Half the ones I find are from there. Who's got some other good ones?

Cool, I'll learn you up real quick. I'm sure you know from FS or other means that ATIS is automated terminal information service. It's recorded just before the hour and updated right about on the hour, but sometimes faster if special conditions require, such as the airfield going IFR. When it's updated, the letter assigned moves up one. It's in a continuous loop from A-Z. You are required to listen to ATIS and verify that you have listened, and know the up-to-date info by telling them you have information X-ray, or whatever letter they happen to be on.

The aircraft calling didn't say a letter because they may have been to busy handling the arrival or blew it off. The tower made up a letter that wasn't active to trick them. He asked if they had Delta when the ATIS was still on Charlie.

That, and there are groups that started showing up a while back that made me lose my faith in humanity.

I am fairly sure that prolonged exposure to *chan and ED leads to a rapant case of nihilism and amoralism. I think I caught it, but so far, I don't have any regrets.
