Hmm interesting site.... good info

Isn't it though?!?

All you wanted to know about torpedo and gun directors for example.

Excellent work.

I am seeing an FSX Lexington in the future. :jump:

Looks to be a great resource! Typical of the Navy to have an instruction pamphlet on how to operate a quick acting WT door.....

:icon_lol: right?

Pulled the general plans for Lady Lex into the planning office... my dockyard minions are looking them over and laying the templates down for the hull.

I don't know why but I am obsessed with getting all the portholes added.

Looks like a multi-LOD project to pull off this detail.... something you don't see with FSX ships... but I cut my teeth on the CFS2 Pearl BB's and works great there. I drool at the amount of detail I can add with FSX.... hence portholes LOL!

I guess the Lady Lex had portholes because of otherwise lacking much in the way of internal ventalation. Great ships in many ways, for really first fleet carriers. But the Titannic like single rudder, lack of enough elevators, 20's era habibility reduced their effectiveness (her and Sara).

The single rudder scenario was replicated in the Alaska CB's, for some unknown reason.

True on all acccounts.... but she will look awesome! Another prewar platform for us ahem... naval aviators. :icon_lol:

Anybody interested in US-built merchant ships should know about this site:
http://www.usmaritimecommission.de/

Fairly detailed drawings and specs on numerous US Maritime Commission designs here:
http://drawings.usmaritimecommission.de/drawingmain.htm

And a truly amazing gallery of US Maritime Commission ships, many of which are WWII-era convoy photos is also accesible through the "Shipbuilding Database" field. Just select "Gallery" and hit "search" Once it loads a list appears broken down by hull type.
