Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Honda team now 'Brawn GP'

Not much on the position of Nick Fry in the 'new' team; I think he's held responsible for the huge spendings but very little results..

"Honda are funding Brawn GP to the tune of £70 million.
Ross Brawn paid one pound for the team.
What you have to keep in mind is that folding a company that employs 700 people and has a large amount of property (a lot of it rented) and wind tunnels and such is an incredibly expensive undertaking. If Honda F1 had been entirely independent it could have declared itself bankrupt, called in the auditors and it would have been straight forward. But for Honda to simply shut the F1 operation would have cost them more than funding the team for another year and extracating themselves of any liabilities."

A rough cut and paste from another forum.
I gather Nick Fry was 'marginalised' to use a present day double speak term.
Why not just say he was given the bullet!!!
I'll bet money that 'Brawn GP' will be gone before the start of the '010 season.

There's an interesting article in a Dutch F1 magazine about the demise of Honda. In the eighties the only thing important to them were the results. When Williams didn't want to pick a number one driver (Mansell or Piquet) to take the title and refuses to give a drive to Nakajima, Honda simply decided to give their engines to Lotus where a young talent (Senna) was doing very well. Even though Williams did win the title in '87 Honda decided to take their engines and Senna to McLaren.
Just when Renault (In the Williams!) starts to win, they retreat from F1 after some very succesful years.

When they return as an engine supplier (Not counting the Mugen years) they make a big mistake of picking the BAR team, who are the biggest money wasters ever known in F1. A lot of people got rich from Honda's and BAT's money, but results were poor. The high costs of F1 today are partially to blame on teams like BAR, Toyota and Red Bull. When Honda bought BAR, they made a crucial mistake putting Fry in charge, as he was 'part of the problem, so he can never be part of the solution'. They've only won one very lucky race so far.

In the eighties Honda would cast aside people like Williams and Prost with ease, now they tolerate people like Fry and Button. It seems the fighting spirit they've shown in the past is long gone. The financial crisis is just a political correct excuse to bail out, but it's the only right decision Honda has made since 2000.
