How are BHAH sales going?

Just curious as to whether orders are meeting the developers expectations. I'm sure the biggest glut of orders has already been sent in the first day or two by those of us who have been doing the pee-pee dance in anticipation of the big release over the past several months. Some more orders probably came a few days later from lurkers waiting for the first reviews. Undoubtedly more will come in as people receive their pension checks or manage to talk Mrs. Finance Manager into the purchase. After that, I would guess sales will start to taper off.

Anyway, since the developers have stated that further updates will depend on the level of interest shown in BHAH, I'm curious to know if a sufficient degree of interest has been met yet! Hoping so.

Cheers,

Hemo

Well of course sales are a business issue and not up for discussion from us but my ol'man had an expression for times like this:

No fireworks....

WM

... well in away it does concern us, the future of BHaH from the point of continued support i.e. add-ons, patches, upgrades, new planes .....

We are in away stockholders.

WF2

For sure WF2 we appreciate it too, but as WM say's there are no fireworks right now... but we are waiting for several reviews to hit the webs and mags so lets see..

One thing if you enjoy it and believe we have done something good please tell people :). We have seen a fair few comments from people who are happily enjoying it but we need more, pics, stories. Also let friends see etc, other forums where you are members. Not great to dump a post in an unknown forum and run so mainly those you are already members of. I think many people are reading and waiting for reviews which is fair enough.

Dear Pol, I've very gladly done that and will do what more I can that is appropropiate as many others have. We're in this war together :ernae: Cheers! Best wishes to all.

I've told some friends I have who are on a dev team for another game, but the interest in flight sims in general just isn't there with them, I guess.

The recent economic downturn is poor luck too, especially from a game standpoint-- it really relies on "disposable income".

But I do think there's a real place for OFF as the leading WWI sim out there now-- it's far better than anything else we have. The WWI flying community is a real niche though-- the WWII games and the non-combat sims seem to grab much of the sim market.

Thanks guys -
more stories pics experiences anyone please post em :)

I've been posting on the three other forums I frequent, but for the most part the response has been tepid, to totally absent, afterall how excited can one get over "soon". But now that I posted 'released', there have been responces, like 'I never knew it existed', or 'I need CFS3 now'

What is needed, is a few reviews. To spread the word, that it indeed exists, to lift that bushel basket off the candle :kilroy:

I ordered mine on 15th and, as of yesterday, have not yet received it. Hope it arrives tomorrow. It seems that not too many (if any) UK buyers have yet received it.

Sir Mike mentioned the economic turndown. I don't think it is this so much as ther price which we are being asked to pay in the UK. My credit card has been charged with the princely sum of £49.50. I am quite happy to pay this but I know a number of people who aren't. It is unfortunate that it has been priced in US dollars and is, presumably, coming from the States. The current £$ exchange rate is pushing it beyond the acceptable price zone of even a first-class product.

When I receive my copy and can get it on my system (unfortunately it is the hanger at the moment as mods are being made to my controls), I will do all in my power to pass comments (which I am assuming are going to be favourable!) to my currently reluctant colleagues.

I hate to have to say this but you might have to consider a revised price in Sterling which would be more acceptable to us impoverished Brits!

I agree with what you say and yes world economy/exchange rates are the main factors at work here so we will have to look at price reduction I guess at some stage down the road.
We have had many e-mails from pre-order folks to that effect - too expensive now!
But a price reduction will also bring aggravation from those that have already paid full price.

But whichever way you look at it retail prices for games do drop after release anyway...but we are only two weeks into it so we will see how it goes over time.

Best

Yep world currency rates we have no control over - good init.

A better means of multiplayer would help. Like using Hyper Lobby.

yeah sure, Phase X? - we need support to continue adding stuff!

Why can't we (SOH) through Ickie, host our own MP server(s) and offer our members a 'Pay to Play" service(not Chicago style):tgun2: . Something where X# of $'s = Y#of time units on line? Seems like there is quite the interest in MP gaiming here and since M$ pulled the plug on their servers, the need obviously exists.

Too much ????????

While I can understand many people not being able to afford $50 if they are on a fixed pension, or lost their job, but the rest of you, for the $, can you get more enjoyment for $50 elsewhere? Let's see, two movie DVD's, 3 music CD's, dinner out, 2 books, hmm. All these pretty much will be something that doesn't last more than once, or viewing more that 6 times. So, it is a pity, that this perhaps comes at a time when $ are tight. But then, if I had to spend my last $50 wisely, on something that would give me entertainment for months, them maybe it is a very CHEAP investment.

Cheers,

Well perhaps this might work:

A charitable individual with an extra computer around could install P3 and run an MP server certain regular hours during the week. He could leave a post here on SOH asking for interested MP players to email him. In response he could send the email people the IP address of the server. The regular hours of operation would encourage people to "meet up" in the server. We could even do a community "teamspeak" or "ventrillo" server too. The admission to that would be the same method as the mp server itself.

Using this method it might be possible to host larger games using a "private ip" method, along with voice options using TS or Vent. Would this work?

Well said british_eh!
I know that I won't get time to fly much, but I also know that when I do get time, I will enjoy it 100%. And then I'll know I get value for the 50$ I used on it.
We have already got a lot out of it for free flying P1 and P2.
No doubt that if you like flying WW1 and love the WW1 era, then the 50$ ain't much to pay.
Come on, people buy add-ons for FS which cost even more, and they sometimes just get one plane, or one scenery/airport!!

So my view on it? Worth every single cent!

I agree that a better MP options would help.
