Thanks for that Paul. My wife is a teacher with over 30 years experience. Some of the stories she comes home with are just stupefying when it comes to teaching the basics.
"Good enough" math has kept me solvent with money in the bank. I like to call my math "Dave's math." I have some original strategies (thanks to the good sisters at St. Theresa elementary) to get "close enough." I would have probably paid more attention in math classes had the subject been couched in a military theme. Mils scale range finding, D-KAV, demo and wind deflection formulae would have been oh so much more interesting than the text book problems!
While I enjoy math and physics to a point I admit that I'm a bit limited at the upper end of the scale on them even though I try. What I didn't learn in any of my classes and what is absolutely stupefying to me is Quantum Physics/Mechanics:
