How much will 1/2 Gig help?

Hi,
I am currently running with the following
Intel P4 516 2.8 Ghz processor
NVidia 9600GT
1.5 GHz

After tuning with Nhancer I no longer get stutters (much) and the scenery is pretty crisp as long as I stay out of large citys and keep the ai traffic at low levels. FRs float between the high teens and mid twenties for my normal low level cross country flying.

I know that I really need a new rig (or at least a new motherboard with dual cores) to make FSX happy.

I am curious about how much (if any) benefit there would be to replacing the 512 MB stick with a 1 GB stick. Unfortunately the motherboard can only support 2 GB RAM.

Thanks
Gavin

It will without a doubt help....How much is a guess..It will most definately help with loading times and scenery loading...

You can not use 4 gigs ram? As 2X2 sticks...

If you do drop your 512 for a 1 gig stick, just make sure its the same speed as whats in there already...

If I were you with the current price of Ram I would get the 2 GB Ram....FSX gobbles it all!!!!, besides it does not do nothing with more...........But, do get another motherboard soon, if you don´t have one with support for dual core.............FSX with one core is like a dog with two legs!!!!

It most likely will not provide much,if anything, in the way of fps....but you'd still be wise to purchase it anyhow as the system will perform better with a matching pair of memory modules.

The quad "corps" are even better..... FS over the years has been the cause of every computer upgrade!

Cheers: T.
