I wonder if you mean "Aircraft Labels" - shows A/C Nationality (friend=green or enemy=red) ??

Aircraft labels (toggle) CTRL+SHIFT+L

I have attached a complete list of CFS2 / CFS1 - FS keyboard commands

Look under: DISPLAY COMMANDS

Your mention of external view , did you mean selection of player Ai to Eai , then you would be after
Cfs-1 set up would be = Chase then Tab to different aircraft , been so long since I used the Cfs-2
control,s some one else has to help with that one , cheers
