I don't think it will have much of an effect on CFS3. I think Flight was DOA because of the way it was presented/marketed and required people to jump through too many hoops even to just upload a skin for something.
 
Ah, MS Flight. I come neither to bury it nor to praise it... but MS are simply not developing anything more for it. It's still available as a free download and I presume the payware add-ons, from MS, are also still available. It's just that there's no way for third parties to build anything for it so it doesn't interest me. Pity really, I'd really have liked to build for that 3D engine.

It's possible the demise will push people on to other existing titles but I think FSX will pick up most of them, or perhaps X-Plane 10.
