Did you ever fly Rick´s Piper HS 748 in FS9?......If you did you will be very happy about the FSX compatible one right off the oven!!!! if you did not,
you missed one of the most beautiful planes of the lot.................go get it piloto!!!!:faint:

http://classicbritishfiles.com/inde...y&Itemid=28&func=select&id=1&orderby=2&page=5

Note: If you get some "flares" in the VC, just turn all lights off " L"

..Just another note: will be using this aircraft in a new Mission soon!!!!!

Great plane, but it clobbers the FPS on my single core. It's too good to uninstall though :ernae:

Gera...Which one is the FSX updated model? It syill looks just like the FS9 base to me...

But I love tht plane ....:friday:

It's not FSX-native, just the FS9 base repackaged with an FSX installer so you don't have to do it manually. Fantastic plane though!

Err.... as far as I know, the HS748 has two problems in FSX:
- some night textures (the cockpit becomes reflective with night textures.... but maybe I am confusing with another plane...)
- the engine starter gauge does not work, preventing you from following the checklist for cold and dark startup.

Did they change this gauge in this new version ?
I still have the "normal" HS748 version and appart from the problems listed above it works quite fine in my FSX+Acceleration.

No its not!!!!....if you load the FS9 model it will work but "No Wheels"!!!!!.....hummmm:a1310:

I've been using the HS.748 in FSX since I installed FSX.
Granted, I had to do some texture tweaking to overcome
the FSX-SP2 induced problems but I have it such that it
works just fine.

As to 'invisable wheels'....I saw that yesterday on the
Alphasim T-34 I downloaded from the library here.
A simple change to the alpha channel was all that was
required to make the wheels and tires visable in FSX.

It took far longer, however, to find and install replacement
gauges for all those fs98 gauges that came with the package.
I did manage to replace them all and also enhance the T-34 VC,
filling in many of the gauges that were only shown on
the texture but not included in the panel.cfg.

The HS.748 in it's original version only suffered minor
discrepancies when imported into FSX. And the only
gauge problem, AIR, had to do with the starter code.
I simply created my own starters and have flown it
sucessfully ever since.

The point being the model is still the FS9-sdk created model, not an FSX-sdk created model. The package was modified to make it FSX-compatible, but the original question was is this an FSX-native model, the only answer to that is No!

But it's a fantastic piece of work and a joy to fly in FSX, and the compatability package is a nice touch rather than having to convert everything yourself.

Well actually no one asked if it was FSX native...But its all good hobofat...

It is and always has been one of my favorite Turbo's to fly.I amvery happy to now have it installed into my tube hangar...

Thanks for all the info on this guys...You just made an old man happy...LOL

BTW...With my frames at unlimited it was smooth as silk and never dropped below 30 frames into KCLT with traffic (not the stock KCLT)...

Just tried it, definitely a port over from FS-9, odd reflective areas inside the VC when any of the lights are turned "on". Freaky transparency when you look towards the back of the seats or at the floor aft of the console. Sounds nice and flies nice. I'd still rather have a CV-580 for FSX, but it seems there won't be any re-works of the cockpit in the Cal Classics version anytime soon.

This beautiful plane will soon be part of my " Tibet Mission", so go practice with it in some dam big mountains!!!!!!!:wave:......about the FS9 wheels, yup, just a change of graphics and concerning cold starts a small tweak.....:applause::applause:

Hmmm I just flew it for 40 minutes or so and did not see any weird issues with the interior...But I was busy mixing Martinis and flirting with the stuardess.....:rapture:

I guess it's possible that it was a texture issue with the particular paint job I was trying. I guess I'll just have to suffer and try it again. :icon_lol:

Ok, looked at several more, all have the same problem, so it's something about the cockpit model.

Just turn the lights off and no problema!!!!! (L):sleep:

Oh You flew at night? have not done that yet..now I gotta go see....

Yes I have the exact same issue. Thanks for the screenshot Ananda !

Here is my solution to those FSX-SP2 induced 'reflective
texture' areas in the 748 VC.

It consists of changing the RGB 0,0,0 areas on some panels
to RGB 2,2,2 and repainting a couple of areas to match
the adjacent grey panel area.

Also, I changed the 'Background_color=0,0,0' statements
in the panel.cfg file in several of the windows.

Here are the mods to the panel.cfg file:

Code:
[Window02]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Window07]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Window09]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Window12]
Background_color=8,8,8

[Window13]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Window16]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Window17]
Background_color=10,10,10

[Vcockpit01]
file=panel_overhead748.bmp
file_1024=panel_overhead748.bmp
Background_color=128,128,128

[Vcockpit02]
file=panel_quadrant748.bmp
file_1024=panel_quadrant748.bmp
Background_color=128,128,128

[Vcockpit03]
file=panel_engine748.bmp
file_1024=panel_engine748.bmp
Background_color=128,128,128

[Vcockpit04]
file=panel_left748.bmp
file_1024=panel_left748.bmp
Background_color=128,128,128
The panel BMP files that I modifoed are in the panel
folder- panel_left748.bmp, panel_engine748.bmp snd
panel_overhead748.bmp.

See the attached jpg examples for details.
