Anyway, I've not seen it before and it is VERY nice, even as a beta release (includes untextured but fully gauged VC). I recommend you check it out:

Thanks for the heads up. Not a big Russian fan but THIS is a great model, payware or freeware. Here's my mini review:

(BTW, the VC as you can see for me is fully textured)

The Su-7, with two models, clean and loaded. It comes with very nice 2D panel, nice VC, a HUD that displays in KM and M instead of feet and knots, working drag chute for landings, a custom sound set and some other nice features like realistic engine spool times and an afterburner/reheat that takes a realistic amount of time to light off. She handles like a truck as I imagine a loaded Su-27 would in real life. Overall IMO this is a payware quality model comparable to some of AlphaSim's releases from 2006-2008. It does seem a bit hard on FPS though, it's fairly light on the polys at around 25K which is 2 to 3 times less than the top end payware models so it might be due the VC. It's got less than 400 downloads so far which means it's still a pretty good secret. :wink:

I like your review Mike, this plane is a handfull for sure esp after ive been flying the newly freeware Iris F15.
i wonder if we could get SteveB to do some east europe repaints, where's Steve got to these days anyway.

Bloomin motherboard fell over so been rebuilding my system as well as renovating me old landy, over the past month ive lost my HDD and then my MB so things a little slow at the mo.
First thing I did when I dloaded the Su7 was look at the textures and once im back up and running I will be playing with it in the paintshop. but I had better install fs9 befor i can give anything a go:banghead:.

See, I'd like to see a lot more posts like this: a knowledgeable pitch of where the model's at, without the hysteria sometimes found in such discussions.

I agree. Also nice to see a camo version which by itself should make it easy for repainted to figure out what is what. Downloading now. :salute:

I am a big fan of the Cold War Russian Jet era. Something about the way the aircraft looked, very sinister and all business. Make that 400 + 3

A very nice model! You can tell it is a beta from a lot of missing items in the cockpit and lack of finished textures. This is a keeper and I hope the final model shapes up real well. From the looks of this, I'd say it will.

One thing of mention, there's a HUD in this model. If I recall correctly, the SU-7 did not have a HUD, rather a Reflector Gun/Weapon Aiming Sight. That could probably be deleted to help out the frame rates a bit.

Holy Moses !!! What is this ??? I have another old version but I cant await to climb into the cockpit !!! :jump::jump::jump: (I'll do it after writting this comment).....

.... a few minutes later.... Looks like the "east" is gonna rise again ! ;-) brilliant !!!
