What airport would be the best for this to be stationed at? Does anyone know if there is any military air traffic that would work well with this aircraft?
 
RAF Kinloss in Scotland and it also used to be at RAF St Mawgan until 1992, which is now Newquay Cornwall Airport in England.

In that photo from Kilo are they flying on 2 engines? The throttles look asymmetric, would they shut engines down for long flights?

I'm think they used to go down to two engines once on station to improve endurance and use four for the transit to/from.
 
Yes it was standard procedure to use 'loiter' capability once patrol area had been reached. She can climb out nicely (well ok struggle) on two as well. Additionally because the thrust points are all so close in being asymetric has much less effect than on typical wing podded jets.
