Huub's fault...

SOH-CM-2025
It's Huub's fault, for bringing the RCS B-25 to my attention again...
I've always liked the model, but disliked the imaginary paintjobs...
so I gave it a try....whoever thought of the way the textures are organised should be...well, you'll think of something yourself.
However, with a bit of perseverance, I can now show you my first attempts...

still some work to be done, but I thought it's going in the right direction...any comments?

btw, don't count on a lot of paintjobs for this one...

I seem to remember reading that they flat-out banned repaints of their model, which was why no-one had done it?

I may be wrong on that, in which case apologies, but it's a very strong recollection.

I remember there were a few threads about this plane sometime back, but I didn't pay much attention to this model. If it's freeware, could someone provide a link to it?

I think that there was not a paintkit because of the way the textures were done. That is the reason Roy did not do anymore, as I recall him saying. But memory fades.....

People are allowed to change their minds. ;)

I hope they have allowed them, because that's looking pretty good there, Jan Kees!

Thank heavens your now waving your magic wand over this aeroplane Jankees! The RCS B-25 has been crying out for some decent skins. :salute:

Luv the skin! :jump:

hey, that doesn't look half bad either, dharris!
Seems I'm not the only one nuts enough to tackle this baby...

Meanwhile, I had the tail markings a bit too low (bugger, these are spread over how many texture files?), so this should be better:

No, that was not Warchild on the nose, though she uses the same image as avatar, but one of the many Vargas pin ups. "Dreamy Time Gal" was an aircraft of the 489th BS/340th BG, operating out of Allesani on the USS Corsica, completing 30 missions until the end of the war

and while I had to revisit all those b****y little files, I might as well do another.
I'm particularly fond of the Corsican B-25's, with those big tail markings, so here's 7B "Bitch n Mitch" of the 487th BS/340th BG:

I always thought this was a FSX native bird, but look at those props....
can't wait for the Vertigo version!

IIRC there were some ugly confrontations with MAAM, going back to FS2002 days.
Something to do with a conflict of interests or other angst!
Of course, I may be wrong but it has a ring of truth to it, and I was very grumpy about a lack of repaints, as I (just me, myself) preferred this aircraft to the MAAM version.
Nice paint indeed, now of it was wearing white/blue RAAF roundels it would be so much nicer...:jump:

Roy's B25

This is an excellent product, I've flown it a lot in both FS9 and FSX..I'm very excited about any new textures for this. I had the opportunity as a young child to be friends with the son of a "25" pilot from the pacific theatre...He brought his plane home and bought it when it was going to be scrapped...I remember him landing it behind his fathers house about 1/4 mile from where I lived, it was plenty amazing as his fathers alfalfa field was maybe only 10 or twelve acres. He (the pilot) was a rough and gruff fellow who was never without a cigar clamped in his teeth. He was a pilot for one of the national route airlines (Capital I think) so was not home much...but When he would go to the airport to tinker on his several planes he would take his son and me along...Awesome is how I remember it. He would start each one, warm it up run some system checks then move on to the next...I recall sitting in the co-pilot position as he ran up the 25...Wow was that noisy and the vibrations were unimaginable. Then his son and I would wash or wax which ever plane he said needed it, it takes a long time to wash a 25..he was the first one to take me up...in an old taylorcraft...I remember him flying with just a couple fingers in touch with the yoke...(on any flight he never actually held the aircraft but carressed it) anyway...I know this is a ramble but I was ten...and very impressed with his 'Patsy' (I assume named for his wife, a stunning brunette) The local ladies group forced him to remove the nose art as being "un-fit for children to see" late 1950s remember, but the outline remained....pretty cool probably why I love brunettes..

Ol' jarhead:wavey:
