As a Jarhead I have to disagree with #12 There's no "five-second rule" when it comes to dropping food on the ground. If you were really hungry that rule could easily be extended to 10-15 seconds. I know "eww"!
 
We did not worry about anything like that during the Hunger Winter in WW II or when I was in New Guinea and SE Asia.:amen:

When I was in Ranger School my Ranger buddy and I ate a C-ration we found in the woods....up near Dahlonega

The Army quit using C-Rations in 1983.

This was 1992.......
