I am back in action

Shadow Wolf 07

SOH-CM-2025
As if anyone cares... after months in limbo, I have returned to the forum and to mission building. I plan to pick up where I left off; my Essex CV-9 campaign, somewhere east of Guam, at the start of the Philippine Sea battle.
In case you've forgotten or haven't been following, I am doing an update of an old campaign with new scenery (mostly from UT), new ships from Stuart277 and historical information from various sources. It is my intent to make this one an auto-loader to spare the users the tedium of downloading and installing all the parts. I will update this thread with progress notes. (y)

Not that I fly CFS2, but I like people. Glad you're back in action. Hats off to developers of everything; it's tough out there. Keep well.

Thanks to you all. It's great to be appreciated. Here is the briefing from my latest re-write - a large intercept mission :

"title_string"=Essex_CT2-Philippine Sea 2nd Wave Intercept_F6Ff
"summary_string"=Alloy, you are to launch immediately after this briefing. Climbing to 21,000 feet, you will proceed at best speed to RP-GREEN, 62 miles out on a 242-degree heading. At RP-GREEN you and the rest of VF-15 will rendezvous with the TF CAP elements on station there. You will continue west, vectored to contact by your CIC. Questions? Give em hell!
"objective_string"=The 1st wave cleared the US radar screens by 1157 hours. Ten minutes later, Adm. Ozawa's 2nd wave, totaling 107 raiders - Zeros, Judys and Jills, was detected by radar. More USN fighters were scrambled to reinforce the CAP. All were vectored to intercept the enemy strike group some 70 miles west of TF-58. As did the Japanese first wave, the second wave also stopped and orbited to organize their formations some 95 miles west of TG-58.4. The intercepting F6Fs, again with by 8 VF-15 fighters, stacked their formations between 17,000 and 24,000 feet and prepared to pounce on the unsuspecting Japanese. The engagement was brief - CIC's radar screens were clear by 1215 hours. Of the 107 attackers, only 10 returned to their carriers and were again so badly shot up as to be useless. [NOTE: The number of aircraft used in this mission is reduced by 50% on both sides.]
"intelligence_string"=Gentlemen the weather looks good with steady winds at 12 knots out of 113 degrees, light clouds starting at 9500 feet and great visibility - up to 15 miles. This is the second wave of what appears to be a maximum effort by the yet to be located IJN Carrier Forces. Enemy strength: 100 -110 aircraft, also approaching from the west at about 10,000 feet. Our TF-58 CAP is being reinforced and vectored to intercept. VF-15 is to launch immediately to join up. Pilots man your planes!
"player_aircraft_name_string"=F6F-5 Hellcat VF-12
"airfield_string"="Essex CV-9"

Cheers: :wavey::running:
