I have another AI question.

I haven't done this with FSX but, if I remember correctly in FS9, you could change out an air file from an airplane that did not performed well as AI with an air file with a similar airplane that does fly well as AI. Seems like I also remember that you had to change the aircraft config file as well. But making sure to keep the first three (3) lines of the airplanes geometry intact as well as the airplanes Datum line for its CG.

Can anyone here verify that for me as I have an airplane that I would really like to make an AI version from while retaining the flyable version. I have already been successful with some airplanes simply by making an AI version of the flyable version.

Thanks in advance.

No good reason you can't do it. If I need an AI version of something that doesn't have an AI model.. I do just as you suggest. Rename the title line of the AI version so as not to conflict with the flyable version then rip the panel and all unnecessary bits out to help make it a bit lighter on frames. If a flyable model doesn't make a particularly good AI model (this is often the case) you can pull the airfile from a similar model and use that. Just remember to change the sim= line:)
