'I Just Don't Get It!!!!!....???

So here I am watching this JAMES BOND marathon & I have to ask myself...."why don't they just shoot him in the head?...."

Instead, the villains all try some elaborate form of torture to which Bond always escapes from & saves the day!...:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Why does Bond always have to have a conversation with the bad guys/girls.
It just gives them time to escape or attack. Just shoot 'em and move on.

:banghead:

1 Must break a spy's will and spirit before terminating the spy. If the spy has a strong spirit and full of will then there worth gold and 1 must pump them for as much info. Once the spy is dry and down wipe em. Crude and effective.

Bond is backed by the script writers. They're a sadistic lot, but they'll save him in the end. They've got mortgages, car payments, kids in school. Obviously Bond is the meal ticket. Doesn't matter how brilliant the villian is.....Bond's backed by the writers.

Power of the Gods.

I haven't seen a James Bond movie since Sean Connery left. But it's a good question. And definitely one worth asking.

And why do the henchmen only take him on, one at a time, instead of en masse?

In a similar vein; in thrillers & horror movies, why do people never switch the lights on?

Dr. Evil: All right guard, begin the unnecessarily slow-moving dipping mechanism.
[guard starts dipping mechanism</EM>]
Dr. Evil: Close the tank!
Scott Evil: Wait, aren't you even going to watch them? They could get away!
Dr. Evil: No no no, I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying, I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What?
Scott Evil: I have a gun, in my room, you give me five seconds, I'll get it, I'll come back down here, BOOM, I'll blow their brains out!
Dr. Evil: Scott, you just don't get it, do ya? You don't.

Hey Panther,....I know you wouldn't go against the original tenet writings of Ian Fleming now,................would you?

Simple it's like a guys need to pass gas after a night of Pizza and beer, it is just that way leave it alone and enjoy it! Besides if they actually did wack him we would not have all the cute Bond Babes next time around so I am with the writers Bond lives, the Babes return!

In the books there's always reason the bad guys just don't hire a sniper; they're not sure how much Bond (and therefore British Intel) know about their operations, they're afraid if they start killing Brit agents out of hand, the West will retailiate in kind, starting a bloodbath, etc... Sometimes they want him alive for questioning, giving him a chance to escape. In the book, Casino Royale, Bond is actually saved from a potentially lethal interrogation by a Soviet agent, who doesn't execute Bond simply because he has no orders to do so.

As for the movies, c'mon, Panther. You already know the answer to this one. Kill Bond and you kill an ultra-successful film franchise. Kill the franchise; kill the money.

Speaking of 007, I've seen floating around the net that Clive Owen was first choice as the new Bond, but turned down the role because he didn't want to be typecast. I really like Daniel Craig's portrayal, but I think Clive Owen would have been an awesome Bond. Does anyone know if this story was true, or just another net rumor?

Internet rumour I'm afraid; there were some opinion polls run in a variety of newspapers, and he came top of them - but he has confirmed in an interview that he was never offered, or even approached about, the role.

The one actor who apparently was in serious contention at the time was Hugh Jackman; Van Helsing was basically one big screen test for the role!! Personally I think Daniel Craig is excellent, nearest portrayal to the written Bond I've seen.

I actually think Timothy Dalton is the most accurate portrayal of Bond per the actual book character...

One vote for George Lazenby. On Her Majesty's secret Service with Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas was a great movie.

Ed, check out the British TV Series that is titled 'Spooks' throughout the Commonwealth and (IIRC) 'MI5' in the US.
The writers have a fine old time killing off or eliminating lead members of the very fine cast.
Very understated, very British and very good.

I really gave up on Bond as the film makers drifted away from the original storyline (as written by Fleming) and Sean Connerey left .......... :kilroy:

PS:ANYTHING featuring Diana Rigg would do me!

Another vote from me. He wasn't the greatest Bond, but better than Roger Moore!! And it IS one of the best films & has the best theme ever!!
