i need people to help with my new aircraft design team

Which Is why I try hard not to! There are a couple of people around who managed cockpits far better than I do...

John does some of the best work but I'd like to see what you can do!
I'm still working on the Dora vc...and started again on the Hawk too.

Hi Planeman65,

I don't happen to build anything for CFS3 so perhaps I may not understand all the issues involved here. (I HAVE built a fair amount of stuff for CFS1 though.)

As I see it, there are a fair number of skilled people here. If (and it is a BIG IF) you can get them to commit to a project, the result will probably be pretty good. The issue is that you are a newby walking off the street with no understanding of the details involved in building a Flight Sim aircraft. You are asking people to volunteer to work under your direction and leadership without providing evidence that you can lead. Perhaps you have great skills in some area of design, but you haven't provided any evidence.

Basically you need to provide some evidence of what you bring to the project and convince people that your ideas and planning will result in a first class aircraft. I am not saying you don't have the ability to do this, but I do note that so far, the evidence you have provided is less than inspiring.

No insult intended. Just reviewing facts as I see them.

Best Regards.
- Ivan.

Once this crack team is assembled, could it's first project be an F-82 or a C-46? . . . I'll settle for an AT-6.

:kilroy:

If we're still talking GMAX here, I find starting quite challenging. I get as far as making the initial cylinder, and then I get stuck...

Funny how in most cases, the modellers can't paint and the painters can't model. Dancat does both. Must be schizophrenic.

haha, at first I could paint, but couldn't model...
now I can kinda model and still paint!
but still can't finish anything :p

Brandon this scenario recently occured awhile back when an energetic young man like yourself appeared in this forum wanting to assemble a team to build a pacific theater for CFS3. First of all there was already a team that built a pacific theater. The team that built it just like the teams that built MAW, ETO, and OFF were all organized and supervised by people who were long standing members of the CFS3 community and major contributors to the work in some form or fashion.

The young gentlemen mean't well but simply had no understanding of the dynamics of such a team undertaking and no comprehension of the talent and work necessary for a simple modelling task let alone something complex. What you are asking is a bit like showing up at NASA and saying "please build me a space shuttle, I intended to fly to the moon". Like these gentlemen are saying to broaden your understanding you need to first master some skill of your own to become a contributing member.

Once you have some concept of the difficulty involved in crafting a simple shape in GMAX or creating an aircraft texture then you begin to understand what you are asking. If you want to participate in a major way then find your niche and get busy perfecting your craft. It took many years for all these members to build CFS3 into the outstanding flight sim it is today. Without putting in a few years to hone your skills and making some significant contributions yourself, your request will NEVER be taken seriously.

You guys!
THIS IS NOT ON! Plane man is obviously new around here and is very eager, he was just enthusiastic about something and you shot him down in flames, I admire the guy for actaully wanting to do something rather than making idle banter on the forum all day !!
He is clearly new around here and has no idea about these sort of things, I'm mean come on your guys would it be so hard for you to set him in the right direction nicely and just say what's what without ridiculing him and making him look like an idiot?
I only said I would help him (and I really would) not because I wanted to, but because I thought that hey this guy is doing something that could be great if he gave it enough thought and I will back him up. I know he has given this alot of thought and planning, but no where near the amount required!
Look you guys, I am only 14, but even I know in my few years of experience this is not how to treat a fellow human being, especially a newcomer, I think you have really made him feel welcome and made SOH look like a great community!
All of you that had a go at him should be ashamed!
P.S Thank you to Rami and Lewis and a few others for saying what you wanted in a friendly way, and for showing him how helpful and friendly the lot of us at SOH really are :salute:

Jack

Just as a point of instruction let's break this down shall we...

i need people to help with my new aircraft design team
Using I and My sets the tone that this will not be a team of equals, but one of service to someone seeking to satisfy their selfish interests.

am starting a CFS3 aircraft design program and i need people to help out. this is a non profit program an you will not get paid, but you will be helping out the cfs3 community.
Admits to not knowing how to do anything himself, and then cynically tries to fool us into thinking that is will be for some common benefit, rather than to just satisfy his need for something he wants.

these are the people that i need: please put your user name under the field that you would be help in:
If you've sent any time here at all you know who the movers and shakers are and what they can do. This is just a plea for instant gratification without doing any homework, or taking the time to build a relationship with anyone. Again it's just clear that he only sees other people as having value in what they can do for him.

Aircraft construction: this basically making the overall design of the aircraft you will hand the aircraft off the moving parts engineer:

Aircraft paint schemes: you will make the paint schemes that will be displayed on the aircraft

weapon designers: you will design all of the weapons for the aircraft you will had it off to the painter
moving parts engineer: you make all moving part move so you will make the prop, the flaps gear etc.. move you will had the plane off to the weapo9n designer
testers: you will test the planes if problems are found then had the plane to the problem fixer if no problems occur the hand the plane off to the distributor.
problem fixers: you will fix any problems that the tester find in the plane once you fix the problem send the plane back to the testers.
distributer/ internet engineer: the distributer will distribute throiughouy the internet. theintrnt engineer will create a website for the organazation email me at gutrman64 to get what the site must have.
file creator: you will create the files necessary for the plane to run right in the game

By not using the terminology common to the art he is again showing his lack of personal skill.

i have decided to call the organization flight Sim aviation or fsa
So to summarize his contributions will consist of making decisions, and not doing any of the work.

Add to that the unprofessional writing style, and you're left with the conclusion that this is either a child who could be forgiven their immaturity but needs to be taught some manners, or someone from an entitlement background who may rightly be held in contempt.

best summary of facts . excellent summary .dont need a degree in english to see how the points in question have been laid out in a fashion that suggests, what the major has proven and stated

excellent major

first off his idea of starting a super group of model builders is just..well, not going to happen!
why would we (longtime members at SOH) just decide to join up under an unknown leader and build planes for him?
second, it's quite obvious that this person who wants to lead a team of builders knows nothing of the job!
who would make a fuselage, wings, tail, etc. and not make the flaps, ailerons, and other "moving" parts??
and not knowing what a VC is, well do I really need to say more?
before you go posting a thread like he did, maybe he should have asked some questions first on the topic of modding first.

I agree you guys.. But I think this person is a child, just eager, keen and annoying. But still, even if it wasn't we are still all ambassadors for SOH and should have set him in the right direction politely and without making him look like an idiot... do what Rami did and be more diplomatic!

Jack

Peace, Jack!

Yes, it's not been the most welcoming response, but Brandon has also been posting elsewhere and has been given some pointers to where and how to get started.

He's apparently not afraid of gmax, so that's a better start than many others I've seen over the years....
