The way I have set up the Guadalcanal scenery is to just replace the textures in the Cactus texture folder. This shows how the field was improved over a period of time.I started thinking that some of the new people may not understand how easy it is to do. Now I can go back and make new scenery for Sept and then Oct of 42 that can be placed in the scenedb folder and they can delete and add the new scenery there.Which do you think would be the best.

Are you saying just add both of the sceneries, and activate or inactivate (check/uncheck) them as appropriate through the scenery Library? That would be easy.

As an aside, I had a patient by the name of "Pap" Beasley who flew Wildcats with Joe Foss from Cactus. They used to get together every year until Joe passed away, the he and his wife stayed close with Joe's widow. Pap passed about 2 years ago. He was a super nice gentleman. He aslo flew F4Us at Okinawa after stateside training assignments. I wonder if he ever was stationed at Cherry Point, as this was home for him. There was a lot of F4U training done there back in the day.

Bob,

I like the idea of turning the various stages of Cactus on and off with the scenery library. It's easy to do and unlike the FS sims, it can be done in real time without having to restart the sim for the changes to take place. You can do it on the fly if you forget before starting a mission.
