A while back, I spent hours...and I mean HOURS...downloading the freeware FS Genesis LOD10 mesh for the United States. And I thought I had it installed. Well, I was doing some back ups, some file cleaning, and found that I somehow had only one small bit of the mesh installed. I dug out the DVD I archived the files to...and same thing there. Somehow I had deleted the folder that I had all the files installed in and kept just the one folder that covered Texas and that general area. Now, I have HOURS of downloading time to go through to get the entire set redownloaded. This time I will make bloody darn sure that I have it all installed and archived.

I kept a copy of the mesh zips on my backup hard drive for the former payware mesh that I use. Good thing as it soon disappeared off the net. I figure it's not like I'm have to feed it and as I can't replace it, I'd better keep it.

I purchased a year downloads from fsgenesis. One of the things I learned on the forum is that it's important to use ALL the meshes so it's gradual in the distance. That's how buffers work. So if you use LOD 10 you should also have LOD 4-9. Those are available at fsgenesis and might be as freeware also.
 
On top of the stock mesh, I use Rhumbaflappy's LOD5 and LOD7 mesh for the entire world, and his LOD8 mesh for the Pacific and most of Europe and North Africa. Then I have the FS Genesis US mesh (LOD10) and some other LOD 9 or 10 mesh installed for specific areas....Hawaii, Greece, still have to get Holgar Sandmann's mesh sets downloaded and installed. Haven't had any mesh tears using this set up yet. And it's all been FREE!

My thanks to you OBIO, per your suggestions on an older thread I have installed all of Rhumbaflappy's mesh plus some for Alps, Himalayas and South America. These additions have made my GW3 and Silverwings installs sing.
I would like to try the FS Genesis LOD 10. Please tell me where I can find it.

The freeware FSGenesis mesh can be found on Flightsim.com. It is by Justin Tyme. There are a good number of files to download...and Flightsim.com has downloads limited to 48kb per second...so some of the files take more than 2 hours to download.
