I took the plunge...

Update to my comment above about the Flying Iron P-38:

I got an email this AM for the new P-38 update from Flying Iron. Installed it an went for quick sound check. Happy to say that the weird sound looping is gone.

Also, I finally figured out how to dump he drop tanks. :)

So, for me I would have to put the Blackbird Zero, and the Flying Iron F6F & P-38 at the top of the MSFS2024 working warbirds list. The only thing keeping me from including the T-33 is that missing second pilot. A little thing, but I think really affects the look of the T-33 from the outside.

The awesome thing about the T-33, though, is they updated the flight model to take advantage of FS2024. If you fly the 2020 and 2024 versions back to back, the feel of the 2024 version is noticeably more convincing, with more natural reactions to control inputs.

With a few days off and a year later with SU4 and a new rig I stepped on the icy lake again;)

And I am pleased. Runs like a charm, only the controller bindings caused some more grey hair. Now slowly building up the addons collection I want to move from FS20, sorting out what is compatible. But I´ll take my time.

Another era ends, currently getting rid off my FS20 install. Really like what I´ve seen so far...

BTW. Happy New Year!

but my repaints don't seem to work anymore...

I'll check later. It seems to run reasonably well, but I have so many CTD's, of the sim freezing, which I need to stop it with the task manager. Is that just me, of do more people suffer from this?

Very rarely, but when it does happen it's due to an add-on which is incompatible for some reason. It's usually an aircraft or scenery, but liveries can also cause freezes and CTD's on the user aircraft (usually while loading a flight) or on AI traffic at some point during a flight.

No CTD's or freezing here so far but that's with a brand new system and i have become very careful about installing stuff (aircraft or scenery) both with FS2020 and FS2024. It's because i'm still not happy with FS24. It runs amazingly beautiful and smooth with never seen before FPS, how could i NOT be happy ! But i still am so i see no use in installing anything atm. One thing i installed was the MP B-17 but you know how that went...

Almost all 2020 planes are solid at this point.

I’m more concerned about your freezes/CTDs, as I haven’t had issues like that since closer to initial release.

If you have Adaptive Boost or MCU (multi-core enhancement) turned on in the BIOS, try disabling those. MSFS pushes the CPU harder than most apps, and can with those enhancements on some systems can be unstable when pushed. My TV PC became rock solid once I disabled MCU.

If you are using the features that are in the Nvidia app for the modest "Overclocking of you GPU", can cause frequent crashes (at least for me), so make sure it is turned off.

aha! My first successful conversion from 2020 to native 2024 textures. So annoying that it has to go through the SDK. My Photoshop can save KTX2 files, but no, 2024 needs something even more special...anyway, I now know how it's done, well, more or less anyway.
