• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

If i was a midget.

Priller, I am not trying to get PC about this it is just I am disabled and don't appreciate being called a " gimp, spaz or cripple" by people who are not my friends, so I don't think it is fair in a public group to use inappropriate labels on people. Here is a quote from the Little People of America website;

"The word “midget” was never coined as the official term to identify people with dwarfism, but was created as a label used to refer to people of short stature who were on public display for curiosity and sport. Today, the word “midget” is considered a derogatory slur. The dwarfism community has voiced that they prefer to be referred to as dwarfs, little people, people of short stature or having dwarfism, or simply, and most preferably, by their given name."

This is all I will say on the matter, except lets get back to Simming.

I have always thought "dwarf" (outside its heroic fantasy use) was more derogatory than "midget". Thank you for having increased my English skills today. :wavey:

No one here called you "gimp, spaz or cripple". No one. And no one will. Get off your high horse, will you?

But thank you for taking up the defense of the "midgets, dwarfs, little people and hobbits". Your courage is duly noted.

Irony.

His was a personal example of how he feels when strangers label him in his condition; and thereby give some context to the labels being used in this issue. I've had some light fun with this thread, but I'm fine with hearing him out, most especially given he has a perspective that's somewhat connected to this issue.

Try and read for comprehension, and not in search of a narrative that you think entitles you to rank sarcasm.

I did not say anyone here called me a gimp, crip, or spaz. I did say; "...I am disabled and don't appreciate being called a " gimp, spaz or cripple" by people who are not my friends....
Look I didn't mean to make a big deal about this but words can and do hurt.
Let's sim!

When i made that comment i was not being derogatory in the name. When i was growing up they were called a midget. Billy Barty never seemed to mind being called one.
When i said i meant if i was i would be all over that plane, trying to turn it into a plane i could climb into and fly.....
