If you had your choice of cars ?

Hmm, from that lot, the Maserati GT convertible, the Audi R8, Ferrari 599XX, Lotus Elise, and the BMW Z4. The rest are either hybrids, American, or Chelsea tractors and hold no real interest.

in the cars shown in the pics from the link , just the lotus elise ( even thought i prefer the exige all the way ) and the SLS AMG .
as far as cars in general , if money wasn't an issue i'd go for , in no particular order :
- 1984 audi sport quattro
- 1974 lancia stratos
- 1984 lancia delta S4
- 1952 mercedes 300SL
- ford escort RS cosworth and/or toyota celica GT4 ST205

and of course , my all time fantasy car , 1994 dauer 962LM

For fun:
Aston Martin Vanquish (Black)
Lancia Stratos (in rally paint)
Ford GT40 (in Gulf livery)

For Daily Use:
BWW M3 (Black)
Volkswagen GTI (black)

A man can dream...*sigh*

Looking at these babes and cars, if you had the money just laying around. Which one would ya like to have >>>> http://www.dailypress.com/business/orl-detroit-auto-show,0,49653.photogallery

Plenty of hybrids eh?
To do this in the heartland of US motordom seems to indicate they might be serious about electrics, this time round.
Notable too, the captioning the Daily Press uses e.g.
" Model Kelly McManus of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan poses with the CT&T C2 C Square electric vehicle..."
Babes used to be called (if they were called anything at all, which wasn't often) Kandy, and the bonnet was open to show a 427 cu inch V8.

The Audi R8 would be the only vehicle there that wasn't plain fugly, just fashionable, just frivolous, or a combination.
Edit: OK the Tesla is interesting, too... ;)

well, if i'm only gonna pick from the link, i do like the looks of the maseratti,
the lotus, the saleen, the verde, the mercedes is nice.
detroit could take yet another lesson from japan besides how to build a good car for a decent price. they could hire better looking models for the show :icon_lol:

Thought about it a bit more... Something like this for Mrs Willy's horse to pull would be nice.

Favorite Ride

'64 Chevy Impala SS 327 cid 2 spd Powerglide:jump: My first car was a 64 Impala. I got it just as Cheech and Chong came out so I what can I say but "Lowrider, ride a little lower":icon_lol:
If I had to have something modern it would probably be a BMW M5 sedan. Very much the refined rocket that one. My ex.'s Dad was a BMW sales manager for awhile and I got to try a few Bimmers out when we visited Vancouver where he lives. Cruising on the Sea to Sky Highway in a brand new 1990 M5 is one of my fondest memories.

Hey Willy,

Man, I thought that was a 1903 Curved Dash Oldsmobile for a quick second. The front foot shelf isnt curved though and no engine boot in the rear. (Its almost just like that!).

You know, that engine is only 'one' horsepower.... eeeks! :d

Still just want my Harleys......

Yeah, I wish I had my custom 76 SuperGlide FXE back. :173go1:

I didn't care for the "new" stuff...reason being you can't work on it yourself. And, they are way overpriced. If you can afford any of them fine, but give me the classics instead. ;) :d

reason being you can't work on it yourself.

Well you can....but you'll need a laptop, dedicated cables and the relevant software to do so.:) I've carried out most of the maintenance and servicing on my BMW 3 series since I bought it.
I do miss my old classics though (taught myself through restoring classic Mini's and VW's after I left school). I might get another classic in the future....but for now I'm content with the reliability, comfort and safety of modern motoring .I'm getting soft in my old age! LOL :bump:

......My dream car,...that's easy,....make mine a 1947-49 Buick Roadmaster Convertible. Color: Sequoia Cream

Brad, my grandfather had one, a blueish grey 49 IIRC. Hardtop with the visor over the windshield and real horsehair seats. Beautiful car, but sadly it had an electrical short under the dash and burnt up. I've never seen a grown man cry like that before.

i'm happy with the 'tweaked' MX-5 i have now, nice little gem, ideally right now eyeing up the RX-8...

anyhoo from all them on them Photos, sorry Saleen S7'll do it for me :jump: that or the Merc SLS :jump:
