I just got a new computer loaded with vista ultimate and have loaded il2 on it. when I launch the game it stops and drops me back to the desktop. ?How do I get il2 to work with vista?

which version of il2 are you using?

so far 1946 hasn't given me any Vista issues..

make sure you are running it using opengl.

I can only think it may be a video driver issue (or sound for that matter), I have IL2 1946 on Vista 64 and it runs no problem whether it be in OpenGl or DirectX.

I have the DVD that came before 1946 and the 1946 DVD but the 1946 is giving me problems when installing it so I may have to purchase the download. The IL2 DVD installed fine but when I try to launch it drops out. Set to run OpenGL for video. Using a dell system with Quad cpu 2.66, 8 gigs ram, 64 bit OSand ATI Radion 3450 vid card

Can you run your Vista as 32 bit for flight simulations? There are some sims that won't run on a 64 bit system. Not sure about IL2 1946 tho, but it's worth looking into.
