I'm Liking TileProxy!! (many pics)

Hey Bob,

Nice shots man!

Did you boots the INI max download settings to a higher setting? I didnt know the resolution could get that good. I must have missed a few settings.

On my FSX, I got tired of waiting for Refreshes to load and finally switched to FS9 for TP flying. Feng says that TP Build/Beta 6 is best with FS9 and Beta 7 is best with FSX, at least for some.

I enjoyed a nice flight through Colorado today myself. I didnt know Colorado could be almost as beautiful as the Alps.

You and Lionheart are making me sick.

I installed TP the other day for FSX and something I did trying to get it to work totally fubared FSX. I had to spend all day Friday uninstalling FSX, Acceleration, and UTX-USA. I am too frightened to install TP again, but :censored: thiose shots just make me drool!

Somebody please, point out how to install this program for dummies like me!

Caz

you gotta talk to a guy named 'ragtopjohnny' over at flightsim.com. He's helped a lot of people get it set up.

I set it to 60m instead of 1m while installing, maybe that's why? Not sure. I also set a button on my joystick to refresh scenery and I would hit that when it wasn't clear. :ernae: Thanks!

TP only gives you textures - I can see that BananaBob is using high res mesh as well.

TP works BEST with good mesh!!!!! That is why desert areas with a good mesh is so great in TP - flat urban areas are not so great.

You are exactly right, something I forgot to mention, I'm not a big city kinda guy and use 10m mesh from FSGenesis, which is a must for me, plus, like said above by Barry, it looks fantabulous with TP then. :ernae:

Damn fine shots Bob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the ones in your 3rd set are truly outstanding, especially the water!

I have been putting off TP for the main fact that once I experience it, I will then attempt to make it permanent scenery with autogen and that will be a frustration in itself.

Yeah, I'm just going to use it for mountainous scenery or desert, looks best because there is no autogen unless you have payware scenery or places like default New York will have buildings and bridges. No seasons from what I've noticed because most of the satellite images are taken during summer. It's not hard to set up, you just have to read this page----> http://edtruthan.com/tileproxy/tutorial/ and then download the program, about 60mb and another file which has preset .ini files in it for FS9 and FSX, whichever you want to use it with, or both. I had tried to install it before but didn't read that page, plus I had my settings on Fall for the season and nothing was showing up, LOL...... must be on Summer.:ernae:

I made a partition (highly recommended) on my second drive, 50GB of space and during install of TileProxy, it will ask you where you want to place two folders, world scenery and cache, I pointed both of those to that partition and I keep that partition defragged because it will frag up quickly.

Are you suggesting that it would not mess up FSX regular instalation if you place it in a separate partition or better a second disk?

It doesn't mess up anything, I just have the files that are downloaded while you are flying put into those folders, which is asked during installation, those textures taken from the internet are being converted for the ground and those files build up size pretty quickly but you can empty those folders anytime you want. You have to start TileProxy first and then start up FSX, if you don't start TileProxy first, you have the regular scenery instead. It is HIGHLY recommended that you have a seperate drive or partition for those files that are gathered from satellite photos and you'll be asked during installation where those should go. Just read the page above in one of my posts that has the link to TP and make sure it's Summer time in your game.

Thanks! :ernae:

Concerning where the files go, I 'think' you can adjust that (change it) by going into the INI file and changing out the address of where the Cache is to go to. You will need to place the properly named folders there in that new location also.
