How do I go about importing the "Gauge Display" from ETO to the Stock CFS3 Correctly?
I am new to CFS3 but old hat at hacking the the crap out of everything, and want the smaller gauge display as they appear in the ETO Expansion to be used in CFS3 stock, as opposed to the larger stock ones.
Rather than drive myself buggy experimenting with this I hoped someone here could "talk me down" with the simple answer for it. I'm fairly certain it can be done without causing errors in multiplayer.
Thanks in advance, and long may you fly. ~S~

Phenozo, be careful. this is an
extremely difficult operation.
RULE #!: Always backup anything you intend to replace, change, or modify in any way. It will prevent a LOT of headaches later.
Step 1. Go into your CFS3 ETO Expansion main game folder and look for a file named ViewUI.xml. Right-click on it and copy it to you Combart Flight Simulator 3 main game folder, letting it overwrite.
Step 2. Go into your:
a. XP - C:\Documents and Settings\User Name (Your Name)\Application Data\Microsoft folder,
or
b. Vista or Windows 7 - C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft folder,
and look for the file named ViewUI.xml that you find here and delete it. When you Start CFS3 again this file will be regenerated to match the one you copied from ETO main game folder to your CFS3 main game folder.
I have only one question before you start:
What OS are you using, XP, Vista, or Windows 7?
Follow the instructions below first.
To find XP Application Data folder, open your Windows XP browser and look for the Tools tab at the top. Click on it and look for Folder Options. Click the View tab and look for “Hidden files and folders”. Make sure “Show hidden files and folders” is checked. While you’re here, also make sure that “Hide extensions for known file types” is unchecked.
For seeing hidden files and folders, and revealing file-name extentions in Vista or Windows 7:
Open a folder, say My Documents. At top left click on Organize and then Folder and Search Options. Click on View and you will find both selections in the list.
For the folder normally found in XP C:\Documents and Settings\User Name (Your Name)\Application Data\Microsoft – go to, in Vista or Windows 7, go to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft for Application Data folder location.
For the folder normally found in XP C:\Documents and Settings/User Name (Your Name)\My Documents, go to, in Vista or Windows 7, C:\Users\\Documents for My Documents folder location.
I hope this helps.:salute:
