improving Berlin

Berlin

Back in the CFS 1 days I had a nice Berlin package installed. It had all the landmarks, but it didn't look as nice as this upcoming effort.

There are a few CFS 1 Berlin landmarks available in the CFS 2 library. They are:

"Ber_1"=*Brandenburg Gate
"Ber_2"=*Reichstag
"Ber_3"=*Opera House
"Ber_4"=*Marienkirch

Unfortunately, they pop up a close range, but then seem to remain visable for quite a ways. I understand that if they are recompiled in a different format they act more like CFS 2 objects, but it's all beyond me. Perhaps one of our scenery experts could comment? They also need DP files in order to be used in the GSL layer.

Nice job Gius. I'm really looking forward to this one. :medals:

As a hardcore Pacific flyer, lately i've been working diligently to catch up to all of you ETO guys in updating my Euro and Med installs with the latest scenery candy, missions and aircraft. I'm embarrassed to admit i just installed Sander's package for the first time with Achim's bases (thanks SDC and Achim, with special note of appreciation to Rami for his helpful tips, guidance and campaign work).

Jagd, i too have been wrestling with the option of activating the old CFS1-to-CFS2 landmarks and also using the old apartments and houses to populate the Berlin and Paris locations, or just delete them from the Objects_dp folder if they can't be used with any satisfaction. This development settles that debate for Berlin at least...:ernae:

Jagd, i must admit that such work is also beyond my abilities, perhaps Robert John...
Bye

I have become busy over the last two weeks with to much work and no play.
I will do these four buildings. I am busy at the moment so info on how they looked when they were damaged during the war would be nice so I can do the damage models. Someone will have to do better dps than I can do though.

The ETO scenery enrichment seems to go faster each day. Thanks for this new additions. They will upgrade even more my ETO´s installs.

Lookin' Good G!

In my "Distant Future" list of projects are the "Flaktürme", three generations of "G-Tower" and two generations of "L-Tower". The G-Towers will require me to do the 128mm FlaK 40 in a twin mount config. The rest of the Weapons used on them are already done. Because of the size and the sheer number of guns used on them I'll probably have to use the lower LOD models, the First Generation G-Tower alone had 4 Twin 128mm FlaK 40's, several (still looking for the exact number) 37mm FlaK 36/37's and 8 20mm Flakvierlings. that's a lot of polys in pretty compact area.

Here are the locations in Berlin;

3.1 Flakturm I - Berliner Zoo, Berlin

It's going to be quite some time until I get to these so don't worry about it now, GSL can always be updated. Keep up the great work.....

Thanks again for your great work!!!!

Lets hope it takes you a while. If not we´ll be walking :gameoff::running:as soon as we enter German airspace.

Oh come on Discus, they're not that bad.... You've just gotten too soft and casual flying about the ETO for so many years without any real challenge from from ground..LOL..:ernae:

You are right Pen. But enough ventilation is enough ventilation...

Well, lets not fly straight for too long, and start studying flying following mother earth contour. Hi-Lo-HI or Lo-Lo-Lo profiles from now on!

LOL Discus.... too funny.

Being an old Typhoon nut I've read tons on how they used to conduct their early war daylight Rhubarbs and Ranger Missions into France. The flight profile looked like a Roller Coaster. Down on the deck across the Channel, pop up to 5-10K as they approached the coast, drop back down when they got inland of the "FlaK Belt", pop back up when the got to their intended target or a target of opprotunity, make their attack, back on the deck to get out of Dodge then do it in reverse going home. A good way to Not get ventilated!
