hi, here I am again as a newbie...
is there a way to visualize maps?(like cfs2 or 3) when flying? by hitting the key "m" all what I get is a black screen with superimposed map, nice but not too useful...as a real GPS in real flying. thanks a lot for helping! gianluca

Yes!

Gianluca:

These payware utilities will give you a moving map in FSX:

Electronic Flight Bag: http://fswidgets.com/shop/download_files.php

FSMap: http://www.molitor-home.de/FS/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=630

This one is free, and gives you a moving map over Google Maps:

GMap: http://fswidgets.com/shop/latest_news.php

If it's just a sectional map you want to look at, you could use an in-cabin browser like the free FSWebCommunicator:
http://www.fs-commercial.net/FSWebCommunicator/About/tabid/91/Default.aspx

Give 'em a try!

thanks jeff, just a question: GMap is a stand alone or not? I mean I can install it without the efbfsx? moreover. have I to fly being connected to internet? ( i think so but better to answer...)

Flightsim.com has:

"FSX YAMM Client v2.1 with ZOOM factor. YAMM is a simple applications set allowing you to connect a moving map to FSX. YAMM Client v2.1 is an update for the client side, allowing you to set a zoom factor in the .ini file and to toggle from 100% view size to this zoom factor. By Laurent Claude."

"FSX Utility--FSXControls is a set of programs for FSX. (1) GUI multifunction application for: set up button & keyboard FSX controls; set up an unique GhostMouse technology; set some parameters of FSX cameras system. There is a browser-based version of GMap that does not require you to own EFBFSX.
And yes, GMap requires you to be connected to the internet

hi jeff, hi all. downloaded the various versions of GMap and tried all them. a major issue however and that is the one stiz is talkin' about I guess. when running FSX in full screen, and I do that all the time with track-ir and all the paraphernalias, I can't superimpose the GMap window on FSX screen. hot keys ctrl+shift+z to show/hide the GMap do not work! what pity! but is taht a limitation on FSX or on GMap?
