In search of SM.79

I have read in CFS2 plane add-on section that there is a SM.79 converted to FSX from CFS2 by:
"ItalianWings' & Manuele Villa's FS9 Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 and 79 Bis "Sparviero".

I have search in CFS2 add-on but this beautifull bird isn't.

There is a link for it.

Thanks in advanced.

Regards.

I don't have the direct answer to your question, but if you just need a CFS2 SM.79 then AlphaSim did one which is now freeware. They don't have it at the website http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/index.php and so I have actually just emailed my copy of it to them - hopefully it will get added to the web pages.

In the meantime, I don't know if we have permission to upload it here under the AlphaOldies section? Was that a blanket permission that was received in the past to upload their freeware to SOH??

Thanks to Virtavia/AlphaSim for their generosity in making so many of their old planes free to the community.

Cheers,

Steve

Gotta learn the search tool here my friend. Go to the Add-ons Library link at the top page here. You'll get the add-ons page with the word "WARBIRDS" in the middle. The word has a search link below it. Click it and type "mvg3d" (no quotations) in the first search text box on the left and click the search button. No need to touch the other info boxes. The "mvg3d" is Manuele's forum name, or you can type in the real name and get results as well. But you'll get better hits if you know and use an author's forum name.

Thanks to all

Thanks top all for these informations, but i have jet tested both is4g and ALPHA SM.79.

I have try find the SM.79 of ItalianWings and Manuel Villa and the only that i have fond in SOH and in Flightsinis at these links:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=6&id=8398
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=47&id=14135
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=7&id=13432

One is for SM.79 FS2004 another for its Service Pack ( new textures and weapons ) and the other is for the conversion
from FS9 to CFS2 but seem that the files in the package are not suitable for the FS2004 model.

I have the plane in FS2004 installation and for me isb really a masterpiece.

Correction! Yes they do!

Yes they do - Phil from Alphasim kindly pointed out to me that the SM.79 is found in the file "AlphaSim_really_old_freeware" at the Virtavia freeware site. He also said "Please feel free to publicise this Zip collection if you are a visitor to forums where older models are discussed. It would be great if many people can enjoy these models for the first time." - it always amazes me how generous people are in this hobby with their time and work.

Stockplane - good luck with your search for the particular model you're after.

cheers,

Steve

The research continue

Thanks to Steve, my omonimous and thanks to Typhoon but i have jet the ALPHA SM.79 i am in search of the FS9 conversion of Sparviero make by Villa and Italianwings, that i believe be a great work.

Regards.

Hi Stockplane,

I think the files you are looking for are by "fani" and are located in the Warbirds Archive which is now defunct as far as downloading goes.

I have those files and will upload them to the Italian aircraft section over the weekend (it's after 4 am here and I need to get some sleep).

Kevin

You're welcome - the files have been uploaded and they're in the queue awaiting Rami's approval.

This is a beautiful rendition of the SM79 - the textures are in FS2004 section. I haven't tested this aircraft in missions.

Have fun!

Hey look that italian beuty! WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!:medals:

Yes I wondered when someone converted this one. May not be the AC to fill the sky with perhaps, but as a player it is just a beauty. Nothing much for us repainters though. The textures are very good too. :bump:

M:icon_lol:rton.

Unfortunately six of these aircraft were enough for a CTD when I tried them in a mission. The game crashed while loading the scenery at the very beginning of the mission with the aircraft still on the ground.

I had some troubles always with MVG planes, always i had to replace some textures from dxt3 to 565 , that is your main cause of ctd (i guess so) . Also i run the air and aircraft files trough airwrench and acm .
But i´m still having troubles with contact points.
I had to replace also the sound folder, it causes ctd for me , I thought that i had not enought ram memory.
This model is a beauty !

Please an information

Thanks for these uploads!
I have download:

sm79_v01 and sm79_sp1 (original FS2004 and its upgrade )

MVG08_SM79_propexhdp_KH (airplane.cfg and dp for CFS2)

MVG08_SM79_1 (model conversion 1) new upload
MVG08_SM79_2 (model conversion 2) new upload
MVG08_SM79_3 (model conversion 3) new upload

Then i have try assembly the SM.79 bomber with FS2004 and the relate new model folder for CFS2
within the new airplane.cfg and dp but it appear in the list of planes but in free flight it don't want work

I have also notice that in all panel folder there is onlu a panel.cfg file without any bmp files or other
so i have used the SM.84 panel ( for try it )

Someone know the correct procedure for this conversion?

Thanks in advanced for any informations about.

Regards.

Either the Corrado La Posta SM79 panel or the Alpha SM79 panel will work with this aircraft.

Kelticheart changed the names of the air and dp files with his update, so you need to use his aircraft.cfg file(s) - you can have multiple aircraft in the aircraft.cfg file, as with the original FS2004 version.

Good luck! Keep us posted.
