In the works

In a queue waiting for paint, the Manchester is having its textures worked on at the moment, which are quite advanced, so should get to the Beaufighters pretty soon!

I think the performance for the mk II needs to be slightly degraded...(?)
It seems pilots preferred Bristol power :encouragement:

mkii

Seems if I read correctly that the merlin engined planes were nasty during takeoff with significant prop torque. I will try to model this. It was stated that conversion to mossies from the beau - the veteran mossie folks were quoted saying if the merlin beau pilots can live using that plane they are ready to fly the mossie. We will see what I can do.

Done some work on the MKII while Ted is working on updates for the Manchester!
Yet another very nice model you've given us Ted:encouragement:

WOW!:applause::applause: Very appropriate as just got Chris Gross's "Luftwaffe's Blitz: the Inside Story: The Inside Story November 1940-may 1941" so Hope to see the NF in use, of in Alfred Price's book BLITZ ON BRITAIN - THE BOMBER ATTACKS ON THE UNITED KINGDOM, 1939-1945
Looks really fantastic!!

John

Love it! Aside from the German NFs I loved the Beau, not sure why she is one that I have a soft spot for. Remember this is a conversion so while I did some work on her the majority is not my original work.

Ted

She just looks powerful; especially with radials. I wonder how she would have done in the Nacghtjagdf?

Yep I have the radials, model is just as good!

Yes Ted I know it's a conversion, but it still has to be done properly, still quite a bit of work involved.

Thanks for the comments James, you and Ted are really fleshing out the night war, so glad I can help!

Beautiful modelling Ted, and superb tex John.

Those pics with Ankors shaders look stunning, as said before looks as good as FSX..;)

Cheers

Later standard NF scheme of overall medium sea grey/dark green, a bit of contrast from the special night finish.

Ranging using the MGs only on the Beaufighter

Seems if I read correctly that the merlin engined planes were nasty during takeoff with significant prop torque. I will try to model this. It was stated that conversion to mossies from the beau - the veteran mossie folks were quoted saying if the merlin beau pilots can live using that plane they are ready to fly the mossie. Gidday, In terms of the beaufighters, I was thinking that they might be a useful aircraft to use the "FireGunsOnly" option that is available. (eg in the xca files, the keycommands, etc)

I read somewhere that heavy fighters like this sometimes used their MGs as a kind of "ranging" technique before opening up on their target with the cannons.

To be able to use the "FireGunsOnly" command, is there anything needed in the way the model is set up, or in the way gunstations are compiled in the xdp, to be able to execute this command?

I find the "FireCannonsOnly" a useful button on my joystick, but I would happily assign "FireGunsOnly" to another button on the joystick.

love the looks of these birds :applause:

Fire Guns = Shift + Spacebar
Fire Cannons = Ctrl + Spacebar
Fire Both = Spacebar

The assigned weapons just need to have the correct designation for them to fire separately.
