Install question

I just checked US Postal Service tracking. My OFF arrived here in Yuma at 2am this morning. Hopefully it will be at my house today.

I can't express how excited I am to try this sim.

Just one question.

I have CFS3, Do I need to patch it to the latest version before installing OFF Phase 3? ,, or will Phase three do any upgrading required?

CFS 3 is two days older than dirt. If I do need to upgrade first, What is the lastest version of a patch I should be looking for?,, and where would I find it?

Unless you have the new DVD version of CFS3 you need to patch it to 3.1 (or 3.1a if you want to bother but it isn't necessary) before installing BHaH. Just go to http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs3/downloads.aspx and get both 3.1 and 3.1a patches. Do 3.1 1st, then 3.1a, then install P3. then P3's 1.1 patch.. done.

Hi Ccrashh,

I am really sorry you are having difficulties and all of us will help, if you just tell us what the problem is.

But in all fairness to our team, your posts from start to finish span maybe 14hrs, we pride ourselves on good feedback to OFF users, but man giving us less than one day to respond, and then saying were not replying and giving up on the game, thats a bit unfair, to us and yourself.

depending on which Dev team member you PM'ed he may well have not had the time to even see your first post as the time differance between where you are and were most of the Dev team reside is about 14hrs.

I really hope you reconcider, as you have payed good money for the game, it would be a shame to not even give it a fair go before relligating the DVD to a drink coaster.

here to help if you want it,

best regards Rob.

Hello,

My PM is open asof release of P3 - I have not received any PM.
PM is not our primary means of contact and is subject to the person actually going to sleep and not responding.

We have an e-mail support system which is monitored almost 24 hours out of 24 - we have not received any e-mail from you:

support@overflandersfields.com

We also have extensive FAQ on our site with the above e-mail address.

Cheers

It's not the game itself, I think it's just me. I'm having a few issues with flight controls and my track iR.

The graphics are magnificent

The framerates are excellent

I'm running a

Quad Core extreme 3.0 ghz
4 gig ram
Windows XP service pack 3
Ati 3870 x2 (1 gig ram)
Thrustaster Hotas Cougar

I just can't seem to get the plane off the ground and fly in a straight line.
I'm flying sideways and a wing wants to drop. I'm standing on the rudder (I can see it moving correctly) and using a lot of left airleron.

We wont go into the smoking craters that are my landings.

I'm thinking steep learning curve here.

I'm going to try removing and re-installing the game.
It asks when installing if I want OFF to look for the CFS3 files from the CD or from an installed game.

I have CFS-3 installed. Should I tell it to use a CD or the installed game?

Ok I'm starting this out with a blanket apology to all especially the develop team.

I reinstalled everything, including track-IR,

I haven't flown comabt yet. Just finished my first free flight.

My problems were all me. I've been comabt simming for over 20 years. Most of that in World War II sims. I learned the hard way that you can not fly an underpowered biplane like a World War two fighter. If you do, you stall and you crashh.

The game is working flawlessly!

Took off, DID NOT try to get too much out of the plane, circled the field and landed successfully!

I even buzzed a friendly convoy of trucks and soldiers moving down the MSR near my base.

It looks amazing. I'm a convert!

THANK YOU!!!

Ccrashh,

Try flying just using the Windows joystick drivers.

I had a similar problem with my Saitek X-45 HOTAS. It turns out that for me, it was a problem with the Saitek profiling software (developed for Windows ME, I think). When it was running, which is the only way to program/map some buttons for nonstandard keystrokes, I'd be in a full left turning dive. No way to control the planes. I turned it off using the Saitek icon on the taskbar, and I'm flying straight and level, now. Don't know if the Cougar has that same issue.

Hi Ccrashh that doesn't make much sense there, controls are over sensitive? I know for my stick I have to auto centre it before flight (move all axis full left/right/up/down).

WW1 craft have more oddities at take off (torque or other flaws) not sure that is what you are seeing but none are extremely difficult. Make sure you are you on realistic FM?

Everything seems fine. Got one hiccup, I just attempted a second free flight when I got this error,
errormessage.jpg

I have double checked that the cfs3 disk is in the drive.

To be sure I tried with disk one then two of CFS3. Then tried the OFF disk.

I may try reinstalling again. Gotta get back in the sky lol ..

One flight and I'm addicted.

Ok think I found the answer to this one. Again it looks like a problem caused on my end.

I have one CD / DVD drive and 3 "Virtual" drives (letterz x,y,z). I think the game expected to find the CFS3 disk in one of the virtual drives.

I disabled the Virtual drives and the game runs fine.

Ok ccrashh thanks for the heads up- glad you are enjoying it now ccrashh :)

Thanks for cracking on with BHaH Ccrashh - it makes the teams effort worthwhile and its good to know we have another 'convert' :applause:

Is the Lewis gun in the Neuport 11 re-loadable? I set a key to "refill weapon"

I got my first kill. A balloon, but got jumped by two enideckers. Got hits on one and ran out of ammo. Ended up making a run for it.

all the time banging on the refill weapon key , lol

Hello ccrashh
I am glad to see you stuck with it and are now in the skies Over Flanders Fields.
You have all your Lewis drums when you take off on a mission. When you run out of ammo you are out and it is time to run for home. If you want a bit of realism, you can watch your ammo counter, (F5) and when you use what you would have had in a drum of ammo you can hit shift-C to see the lewis gun come down to reload. The key to conserving ammo and doing some damage is to get in close and try not to fire until you are sure of a hit.
Enjoy
